Bnai Brith Lodge to Sell U. S. Savings Bonds in September

Delivers Major Address at N. V. Dedication

WASHINGTON, D. C. — Sep-
tember has been designated as
National Bnai Brith Savings
Bonds Month during which Bnai
Brith lodges all over the country
are asked to sell United States
Savings Bonds to members,
friends, neighbors and business
associates, it was announced by
Philip J. Klutznick, president of
Bnai Brith.

The project., directed by Sid-
ney G. Kusworm, chairman of
the organization's Commission
on Americanism and Civic Af-
fairs, has the enthusiastic en-
dorsement of top officials of the
United States Treasury Depart-.
ment.

83rd birthday Aug. 17, was also
greeted by Britain's Prime Min-
ister Winston Churchill, who ex-
pressed his personal apprecia-
tion for Mr. Baruch's contribu-
tions to American British
friendship.
More than 2,600 guests at-
tended the dedication ceremony.

E. Dewey, Mayor Vinent R. Im-
pellitteri, Herbert Swope and
leading city officials. Francis
Cardinal Spellman delivered the
invocation, and Bishop Charles

Germany, Yemen Enter
Into Diplomatic Relations

BONN, (JTA)—Germany and
Yemen will enter into diplo-
matic relations shortly, it was
agreed at talks held in Cairo
between representatives of both
countries, according to reports
from the Egyptian capital.
The Syrian Minister to Bonn,
leaving Germany to take up a
post in the Syrian Cabinet, told
a press conference at Cologne
that Arab-German relations had
received a set-back by the con-
clusion of the German repara-
tions pact with Israel. The Min-
ister, Dr. A. Istuany, said that
both Germany and Syria must
make every effort to restore the
former friendly relations which
Germany had with the Arabs.

000th anniversary of the city of
Jerusalem will be marked by
New York Jewry at a celebra-
tion in Madison Square Garden
Oct. 20, it w a s - announced
after a meeting of 250 religious,
business and communal leaders
who organized a Committee of
Three Thousand for the salute
to the Israeli capital.
The celebration is sponsored
by the State of Israel Bond Or-
ganization and admission to the
festivities will be by purchase of
Israel bonds. Dr. Israel Gold-
stein was named chairman of
the Committee of Three Thou-
sand.
