MUNICH, (JTA) — West Ger-
man Chancellor Konrad Aden-
auer, addressing an election
meeting in Regensburg, Bavaria
condemned the re-appearance
of former Nazi leaders in Ger-
man political life.
In a reference to the candi-
dacy of Dr. Werner Naumann,
former righthand man to Jos-
eph Goebbels in the Nazi Pro-
paganda Ministry, Dr. Adenauer
said: "If I had been Goebbel's
Secretary of State I would have
been ashamed of myself because
of all the suffering that Na-
tional Socialism brought on the
world."
He told his audience that no
one need fear a repetition of
Hitler's 1933 rise to power be-
cause "the entire German peo-
ple will prevent the restoration
of Nazism or any similar poli-
tical direction."

Eight Germans have visited
Israel since the state was set up,
Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett
told Parliament. They included
three Germans who had actively
helped save Jews from the Nazis
and five aged mothers of Ger-
man girls who had married
Jews and come to Israel to settle
with their husbands. In addi-
tion, Sharret revealed, 30 other
Germans have requested visas
to enter the country.

BONN, (JTA)—A new federal
law, which has just been pro-
mulgated, provides for the re-
instatement of pensions due to
a number of Jewish refugees
from Germany who served in
the German Army during the
first World War, and for cer-
tain of their dependents.
Beneficiaries are those who
received veterans' pensions prior
to the Nazi regime, generally be-
cause they had been disabled
in the fighting or because their
husbands had been among the
12,000 Jews killed. These pen-
sions were stopped by the Nazis
because, as Jews, they had to
seek refuge in other countries.
Until recently Germany made
no attempt to discharge her
debt to those who gave their
health or their lives for Ger-
many. In the future, eligible
veterans or their dependents
may file claims to have these
pensions restored, retroactive to
April 1, 1950.
