Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood to Sponsor
Traditional Cooking Institute Oct. 20.21

The Sisterhood of Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek will spon-
sor a Traditional Cooking Insti-
tute, Tuesday and Wednesday
afternoons, Oct, 20 and 21, Mrs.
Meyer Shugerman, president,
announced. A first-of-its-kind
event in Detroit, the Cooking
Institute will be conducted by
Mrs. Hilda Blume, Scranton, Pa.,
cateress, who is connected with
I. Rokeach and Sons, Inc., pro-
ducers of kosher canned foods.
Mrs. Blume will feature tradi-
tional Jewish cookery in her
demonstration, including both
dairy and meat meals, with em-
phasis on holiday preparations.
A graduate of Simmons College,
Mrs. Blume is famous in the
Scranton area for her course en-
titled "Party Catering, for the
Home," which she presented in
Baltimore, New York and Mount
Vernon. She is, at present, pre-
paring a television program.
The Cooking Institute will be
held in the synagogue's social
hall from 1 to 3 o'clock both

One will display and sell the
kitchen gadgets and utensils
used by Mrs. Blume in her food
preparations. •

Workman's Circle Chorus
Plans Outing for Palmer

The annual summer get-to-
gether of the Detroit Workmen's
Circle Chorus will be held near
the wading pool at Palmer Park,
beginning at 12 noon, Sunday.
August 23, announces Mrs. Ruth
Gottfurcht, president.
The committee is arranging
games and prizes for members
and their children. Those plan-
ning to attend should bring
lunches.
The Chorus, a 21-year-old in-
stitution; presents English, Yid-
dish and Israeli songs in a num-
ber of annual concerts.

Youths Leave Argentina
For Settlement in Israel

BUENOS AIRES, (JTA) — A
group of 42 members of the
General Zionist youth move-
ment sailed from here to settle
in Israel. The group, which in-
cludes a number of married
couples, will take up residence
in the Ein Hashlosha Kibbutz.
All of 'them received their pion-
eer training here before they
left. A large number of people
including representatives of all
Zionist groups, were on hand to
wish them bon voyage.
