Bond Women an
Animal LEmeheon
Meeting On Aug. 20
Mrs. Theodore Bargman,
chairman of the Detroit Worn-
en's Division for State of Israel
Bonds, . announces the appoint-
ment of Mrs. Joseph Katchke as
chairman of the bond women's
second annual meeting.
Mrs. Katchke, past bond chair-
man of Adas
Shalom Sister-
hood, has stated
that plans for
the event — a
luncheon affair
to be held on
August 20, a
K n ollwood
Country Club—
are moving
along rapidly.
Assisting her
in preparing the
day's program Mrs. Katchke
will be Mesdames Samuel Green,
William Greenwald, Philip Hell-
man, Joseph . Horwitz, Milton
Mahler, David J. Miller, Bernard
Osnos and Albert Potiker.
Mrs. Marian Fineman, nation-
al director of the Women's Di-
vision, will be here to present
citations of honor to the or-
ganizational presidents most ac-
tive in the Israel bond program
during the past year.
An Honor Scroll, containing
the names of key bond women
for 1952-53, will be dedicated at
the meeting. Principal speaker
will be Hugh McDonald, a lead-
ing economist and Haganah
fighter. •
Mrs. Katchke, a member of
the Women's Division executive
committee. recently completed
two years of office work in the
bond organization, during which
she devoted one day a week to
the bond program. She served
as auditor in the December, 1952
and June, 1953 BIG Day cam-
pagns.

Attending the parley will be
rabbis. presidents and key mem-
bers of Detroit synagogues who

Delay School Opening'
For Rosh Hashanah
WASHINGTON, D.C., (JTA)
— The Montgomery County
Board of Education in Mary-
land has deferred from Sept.
10 to Sept. 14 the opening of
the fall school term so as to
avoid conflict with Rosh Ha-
shanah, which starts Sept. 10
The original date fixed for
the reopening of school was
Sept. 10. After the Jewish
Community Council of Great-
er Washington called the
clash with the holiday to its
attention, the Board changed
the opening date. About 1,500
Jewish children, it is estimat-
ed, attend the Montgomery
County Schools.
