WASHINGTON, (JTA)—A vi-
cious attack on the Jewish peo-
ple, issued under the name of
"Bolshevism and Zionism," and
purporting to have been pre-
pared "at the direction of Henry
Ford," is being widely distribut-
ed by the "Christian National-
ist Crusade" headed by Gerald
L. K. Smith, the Jewish Tele-
graphic Agency established.
The document was mailed by
Smith to members of Congress,

leaders of patriotic, civic and
other organizations and schools
throughout the country in large
numbers. A large portrait of the
late Henry Ford precedes the
text.
The caption states that Mr.
Ford's retraction in connection
with anti-Semitic material "was
written by certain Jews in New
York and Mr. Ford's name was
forged to this apology by Mr.
(Harry) Bennett himself who
boasted that as an artist he had
learned to reproduce Mr. Ford's
signature perfectly so that the
experts could not detect it."
The pamphlet, which purports
to be a factual report of how
"Communism works in the Unit-
ed States," says that the trade
unions are its first weapon and
"the Jews have captured Ameri-
can trade union movements as
completely as if they had storm-
ed them with the bayonet."
The second part of the pamph-
let, which was supposed to have
been written in 1921 and since
its publication "originally by
Henry F o r d" to have been
"buried, smothered and hidden,"
is an attack on the Zionist
movement.

him Arab-Israel peace prospects
and civil rights problems.
Rabbi Silver told newsmen
that he had come away with the
feeling that Israel • and the Arab
states may have confidence that
the President "will be construc-
tive and helpful to all con-
cerned." The President, Hr. Sil-
ver added, was interested in the
advancement of peace between
Israel and the Arab states and
had the interest of both parties
at heart.
Dr. Silver, who revealed that
he had commended the Presi-
dent on his Dartmouth speech
denouncing "book burning," ex-
pressed disapproval of Congres-
sional investigation of t h e
nation's clergymen. He said he
felt that political freedom is
derived from religious freedom
and that indirect action ,,to in-
hibit clergymen from speaking
as their basic religious tenets
prompt them, "will. in the long
run hurt democracy."
The President, Dr. Silver said,
appeared determined to work
for freedom and peace abroad
and also " for true freedom for
classic and unintimidated Amer-
ican liberties" at home: Dr. Sil-
ver said the President outlined
his philosophy on the matters
discussed. He also revealed that
he had commended Mr. Eisen-
hower on the progress of the
administration bill to admit
240,000 additional refugees in
the next two years.
Dr. Silver said he was not
aware of reported steps by
Congressional inve s t i g a tin g
authorities to probe him and a
Protestant clergyman who offi-
ciated with him at the inaugu-
ration of President Eisenhower.
He said he supported clemency
for the late Julius and Ethel
Rosenberg because he felt that
while they here guilty the pen-
alty was too severe.
