To Lin ,,ky's Memory
Louis Linsky; 68, veteran labor
Zionist, died of a heart attack
June 20. Leaders in LZOA this
week joined in paying tribute to
his memory.
He came to America from
Bessarabia in 1906. As a young-
ster he received
his education in
Odessa Gymna-
sium and learn-
ed the book-
binding trade
there. He lived
in Detroit since
1914 and for
many years op-
erated a men's
Linsky
and boy's cloth-
ing store on 12th St.
As a member of the labor
Zionist movement he devoted
much time to the Jewish Na-
tional Fund, Bonds for Israel,
and took part in campaigns
benefiting Jewish life here and
in Israel. He was a devoted
worker for Israel Histadrut and
for many years was financial
secretary of Poale Zion Branch
3. He was a member of Farband
Branch 79.
At a special ceremony, which
was attended by a large group,
of Detroiters, Tuesday evening,
Rabbi Joshua S. Sperka dedi-
cated the new Menorah Funeral
Chapel at 3800 Puritan.
After affixing the Mezuzah,
with special prayer, Rabbi Sper-
ka conducted Mincha and Maar-
iv services. The chanting of
Psalms was included in the pro-
gram, under the leadership of
several rabbis.
Numerous messages of greet-
ing were received by Rabbi
Sperka on the occasion of his
dedication of Menorah Chapel.
Seek Him that maketh the
seven stars and Orion, and turn-
eth the shadow of death into
the morning.—Amos 5:8
