Lrael Hotel Industry
Shows Increased Profit

An American Jewisi, Press Feature

JERUSALEM, (IIP)—A net
profit of IL.42.835 was shown by
the Palestine Hotels Ltd., owners
Of the King David Hotel.
Last year the net profit was
IL.36,424. Larger amounts for the
amortization fund were recom-
mended by the board of direc-
tors. Last year IL.8,300 was set
aside; this year IL.22,900 is pro-
posed. Deferred expenditure of
1L.30,000 for renewals and re-
placements was also suggested.
The small deficit of IL.102 will
be carried forward.
The garden terrace and re-
novated bar have proved very
popular, and their costs will
probably be covered within a
year. Equipment has been
bought totalling IL.45,000 with
the company's balance in Lon-
don to improve and modernize
the hotel.
Plans are going forward for
the building of a hotel by the
company on Mount Carmel.
Tourist facilities are being im-
proved with the assistance of
loans from Israel bond invest-
ments.

Was Jascha Heifetz justified
in defying protests against his
playing objectionable German
music in Israel?
Two editorial comments are
of special interest.

an act of terrorism. The prob-

sense, peculiarly characteristic
of our time. He is a product of
an age of violence, where the
acceptance of political decisions
and parliamentary actions is
limited to a few democratic
countries. Particularly in lands
emerging from colonial rule,
terrorism exists as a potent po-

NEW YORK, (JTA)—Columbia

MUNICH, (JTA) — Ilse Koch,
widow of a Nazi concentration
camp commander and herself
a war criminal, has been sen-
tenced to a two-year term in a
labor ca mp by the last denazi-
fication court in Bavaria.
Her sentence, however, is
purely nominal since she is
serving a life sentence imposed
by a German court which found
her guilty of war crimes against
Germans.
In Dortmund, five neo-Nazis
were sentenced to terms rang-
ing from six to 14 months fol-
lowing conviction by West Ger-
man authorities on charges of
forming a secret Nazi society
with branches -throughout the
Ruhr.
While the membership was
small, participants included a
number of fanatical Nazi Party
leaders among whom were some
who previously served time in
Allied war crimes prisons.
