Temple Israel Groups Plan
Picnic Sunday at Lola Valley

Temple Israel will hold its an,
nual congregational \picnic at 12
noon, Sunday, at Lola Valley
Park. The site is 1/4 mile south
of McNichols on Lincoln Rd.
The affair is co-sponsored by
the Temple's Men's Club, Sister-
hood, Youth Group and Young
Married Group. Games and
prizes will be featured. Mein,-
bers and friends are invited.

The earth shall be filled with
the knowledge of the glory of
the Lord, as the waters cover
the sea.—Hab. 2:14.

Mrs. Lena Cohen of 2648
Hazelwood is a proud lady to-
day—having ascertained that
Isaac Ben-Zvi, the President of
Israel, is her
cousin.
Mrs. Cohen
became curious
about the Israe-
li President
when she read
his life story..
which made ref-
erences to Pol-
tava, hiS -Rus-
sian birthplace,
and to members Mrs. Cohen
of his family. She made in-
quiries and she was given as-
surances by President Ben-Zvi's
stepmother (and aunt), Dvora
Shimshelvich, that her as-
sumption was right: she was
related to the chief of the Jew-
ish state. Mrs. Shimshelevich
explained:
Ben-Zvi's father's name was
Zvi Shimshelevich. He ° was
married to Dvora's sister a year
after whose death he took Dvora
for his wife, making Dvora the
Israeli President's aunt and
stepmother. Dvora's father, Is-
rael Leib Kapelovich, was a
brother of ,Mrs. Cohen's father,
Berl Shuster. Thus, by marri-
age, the Israel President is a
cousin of Mrs. Cohen, who has
another sister in DetrOit, Mrs.
Jennie Addis of 2040 Glendale,
and a sister, Mrs. Esther 'Fried-
man, in Los Angeles. .
Ben-Zvi adopted the Hebra-
ized name by calling himself
the son of Zvi.
Mrs. Cohen, like her cousin,
interests herself deeply in Jew-
ish activities. She is active in
Mothers Clubs. The accom-
panying photo was taken 15
years ago when she was active
in Blumen of Zion. She has
two sAa.ughters, Mrs. H. Dashkin
of Detroit and Mrs. J. Rich of
Los Angeles, and a son, Sidney
Adas of Detroit.
