light dimmed and replied : '
"There is none."
"Then, 0 God, why am I a
star?"
What wouldst thou be?" asked
the light. And the star beamed
with eagerness as it answered:
"0 God, for many years I have
watched the earth, anct seen the
men and women pass to and fro
among their great palaces. They
build, they labor, they move
about, they live. God, I would be
a man."
The light dimmed, before low
and sad, it replied:
- "Dear Star, thou dost not -
know what it is to be a man.

Dear Boys and Girls:
Our dear friend Miriam has
taken a leave of absence, but
before she left she asked me to
tell you not to forget the won-
deful - stories of the Jewish
people that you learned in your
religiou's school classes this year.
Now that summer and vacation
time is coming near, many • of
you will be xoing to new places
or summer campS or just enjoy-
ing a vacation in the city. Try to

A Star and a Leader

PARIS, (JTA1 — An attorney
for a number of French priests
charged with kidnapping the
Finaly brothers and spiriting
them out of France to Spain is-
sued a statement that he had
received word that the boys were
in _good health. The statement
was apparently made in reply to
reports and statements to the
effect that one of the brothers
had died in Spain following an
attack of pleurisy.
However, Moshe Keller, at-
torney for the Finaly family
which seeks the return of the
children, stated that a "source
worthy of confidence" had told
him ten days ago that the
younger of the children had died.
The two boys, left in a French
orphanage by their refugee par-
ents during the war a short time
before the` parents were mur-

morial Day week-ends at the
Jewish War Veterans Memorial
Home. The display, which con-
sists of photographs, reproduc-
tions of documents, newspaper
ace o u nts and correspondence,
highlights activities of Jewish
patriots from colonial times
through the Civil War era.
Among the displayed items are
some depicting the important
part played by Haym Salomon
in the American Revolution. In-
cluded in this material is a re-
production of the ketubah of
Salomon- with Rachel Franks.

brew Schools, while high school
graduates have completed four
more years of Hebrew and Jew-
ish subjects. -
