Ben-Gurion Sees
Jewry's Strength
In State, Bible
TEL AVIV, (JTA) —The
strength of the modern Jewish
nation lies in the JeWish State
and in the Bible, Premier David
Ben Gurion declared in an ad-
dress to Milo, a club of artists
and writers. In the past, he
added, the Jewish nation sur-
vived because of its religion and
because of the hatred which
surrounded it.
Asserting that both the state
and the Bible were of some sig-
nificance in the life of the Jew-
ish people, Mr. Ben Gurion
urged the writers to "revitalize
the Bible—that wonderful, pow-
erful book which has influenced
many nations, but which has
been to the Jews the very source
of life." He stated that the
Bible should be "actualized" in
the letter and spirit in which
it had been conceived.
Responsible for decorating the many booths to be featured
at the Detroit Chapter of Hadassah's County Fair on June 6 and 7,
are these members of the art committee: left to right, Mesdames
WILLIAM FLASHENBERG, IRWIN SHAW, chairman, IRVING
KATZ and LESLIE SCHMIER. The two-day carnival will be held

Pro-Nazis Instigated Bernadotte
Assassination, U. S. Writer Claims
NEW YORK, (JTA) — Count
Folke Bernadotte, the UN's Pal-
estine truce mediator, whose
death is officially listed as a
mystery by the United Nations,
Sweden and Israel, was "fin-
gered" for assassination by a
secret French pro-Nazi organi-
zation, it was asserted by a
journalist who says he conduct-
ed a three-year world-wide in-
vestigation.

Europe, in the current issue of
"Real Magazine," Count Berna
dotte's murder was planned by
the _ French pro-Nazi group,
called the D.E.K. in order to
kill that organization's mortal
enemy, French Air Force 01.
Andre Serot, Senior UN Obser-
ver in Jerusalem, who was
machine-gunned to death as he
sat next to Count Bernadotte.
Col. Serot, says Farago in his
article, was at one time the
chief of the Security a n d
Counter-Espionage Section of
the Frence Air Force. In this
capacity he had accumulated
secret files on French military
and government personnel who
swung over to the Germans dur-
ing the occupation of France.
This group of Fascists listed by
Serot sought to destroy his secret
records and murder him. Their
chance came in Jerusal e m
where they cooperated with a
Communist group, the "Father-
land Front," which was "gunn-
ing" for Count Bernadotte. The
author identified the actual
killers as two Yemienite Jews
who belonged to the Communist
organization.

A former Detroit doctor, Jack
Agin s, has recently had a
manual on his practice of 28
years published by the Economy
Press of Los Angeles. A grad-
uate of the Wayne University
Medical School, Dr. Agins was
once a Probate Court psychia-
trist, before moving to Califor-
nia where he is currently head
of the General Practice depart-
ment of Temple Hospital in Los
Angeles.
The manual, "Mates and Mis-
mates", is available at the Hud-
son Co.'s book department.
Discussing the most intimate
marital problems frankly but
with dignity, Dr. Agins argues
that the partners in a marriage
must have mutual respect, un-
derstanding for the other's
problems, in order to create an
enduring comradeship. He
states that not only common
interests — but also economic
security — is necessary in the
making of a successful marri-
age.
The doctor believes that
young people should share fin-
ancial responsibility to achieve
marital happiness today and
provide the foundation for more
happiness in the future.
The writer slaps at the evils
of cheap commercial advertis-
ing linked up with sex, and
claims that it is necessary to
counteract the harmful infor-
mation the child may gather
from suggestive magazines,
films, and TV shows.
The major reason for writing
"Mates and Mismates" in the
author's own words "has been
to set a course by which the
reader, going from innocence to
wisdom, may hope to master the
art and science of a marriage
marked by sanity, well being,
and as a progressive force to
be reckoned with in the larger
context of living.
