NCRAC Proaram

A joint meeting of the Jewish
Community Council executive,
community relations and in-
ternal relations committees last
Thursday considered the NCRAC
"Joint Program Plan, 1953." Sid-
ney M. Shevitz, Council Presi-
dent who returned from Israel
two days prior, presided.
The compilation of plans re-
quested by the last Plenary Ses-
sion of the NCRAC is intended
to serve as a -guide to member
agencies and communities. It
was developed with the partici-
pation of the American Jewish
Congress, Jewish Labor Commit-.
tee, Jewish War Veterans, Union
of American. Hebrew Congrega-
tions and representatives of 28
community organizations.
The report on the Joint Pro-
gram plan was presented by
JameS I. Ellmnn, past president
of the Council.
One of the points in the dis-
cussion was that two areas in
which the Detroit Council has
been exceptionally active are not
included in the national outline.
These are the areas of coopera-
tion with the Zionist Council in
interpretation of Israel to the
American community, and in
the promotion of active cultural
programming.
It was agreed that similar
outlines by non-NCRAC member
agencies such as the ADL and
American Jewish Committee,
when available, should also be
used in measuring the accom-
plishments of Detroit's Council.
A sub-committee of the Coun-
cil is to be appointed for the
purpose of giving further con-
sideration to the matter.

The dinner for Ambassador
Eban will launch a concentrat-
ed two-week drive to secure Is-
rael Bond subscriptions, leading
to BIG (Bonds of the Israel
Government) Day, the nation-
wide one-day campaign for
bonds, which will be held on
- June 14. .•
"Reservations are being filled
rapidly," said Kasle, "indicating
the general feeling of Jews in
this community toward the
young, struggling democracy,
and toward this brilliant young
statesman who personifies the
Israeli people." Reservations are
available by calling WO. 2-5Q91.
