Assailed by Miller

UNITED NATIONS, (JTA)-
The Chief of Staff of the truce
supervision organization in Pal-
estine, Lt. Gen. William E. Riley,
informed the United Nations
Security Council that the ma-
chinery of the Israel-Jordan
Mixed Armistice Commission
had become "inadequate" be-
cause of the 'way the delegates
acted as lawyers prosecuting or
defending a case.
He said that public opinion
on both sides had become in-
flamed by semi-official reports
on incidents published before
investigation and. thus the
chairman of the commission
found himself in the position of
acting as a judge attempting to
decide "between conflicting con-
clusions."

Citrus Exports Grow

TEL AVIV—(ISI) —Israel ex-
perienced its most successful
year in the export of citrus pro-
ducts overseas. 5,300,000 cases
were shipped abroad during the
1952/53 export season which has
just ended. Eighteen countries,
most of them in Europe, pur-
chased citrus products from Is-
rael. Among those countries were
Denmark, Finland, Norway, Hol-
land, Belgium, France and Great
Britain. As has been the case
every year Great Britain was Is-
rael's best customer. Shipments
last year totaled 3,700,000 cases,
the increase this year represent-
i'n.g a 50% rise in exports.
