Schwartz, Itzik Manger, Reuben
Wallenrod and. Dr. Simon Feder-
bush have been awarded the
Louis LaMed prizes. for their
Yiddish and Hebrew books, pub-
lished in 1952. This is the 13th
annual award made for the two
best Yiddish and two best He-
brew books published in the
Western Hemisphere. A $500
prize goes with each award.
The Yiddish winners were Mr.
Schwartz, for his autobiographi-
cal poem, "Early Years," and
Mr. Manger for his collected
works, "Poem and Ballad." The
Hebrew winners were Mr. Wal-
lenrod for his collection of short
stories, "Within the Walls of
New York," and Dr. Federbush,
for his work on Jewish law,
"State Law in Israel." The
judges were J ac o b Glatstein,
Leibush Lehrer and Menachem
Ribalow.
