Ground was broken this week for a privately-
owned, deluxe, cooperative apartment building,
the first in Detroit since the mid-twenties. Com-
mencement of building was announced by Louis
IL Schostak, of Schostak Brothers & Co., Real-
tors, and president of Covington Arms Apart-
ment. Inc.. sponsors of the project. Located at
333 Covington Dr., facing Palmer Park, the fives
story building will consist of 16 units—eight
two-bedroom units with two baths, and eight
three-bedroom apartments with three baths.
The building, which will be completely fire-
proof and air-conditioned, will offer ranch-type
home living without any of its attendant respon-
sibilities, Mr. Schostak said. Additional officers
for Covington Arms Apartment, which was
formed in February, include Louis Freedman,
vice-president; Louis Soppy, secretary; and Dan
A. Laven. treasurer. Paul Tilds is the building
architect. Meyer Weingarden & Sons, the con-
tractor, expects the building to be ready for oc-
cupancy in the spring of 1954.
