To Begin Drive Effort

macist's section of the Profes-
sional Division of the Allied
Jewish Campaign, announced
that the section's opening din-
ner will be held at 7 p.m., Mon-
day, at Lacher's. -
Dentists and dental techni-
cians will hold their opening
brunch at 10:30 a.m., Sunday,
April 19, at Holiday Manor. Co-
chairmen of the section are Dr.
Samuel Krohn and Dr. Frank
Reisman.
At 4 p.m., Thursday, the ac-
countants, guided by Russell
Nida, will hold a report meeting
at the Fred M. Butzel Memorial
Building, 163 Madison. This sec-
tion's early start in the drive

other sections in solicitation.

and assume responsibility for
studying U.S. immigration poli-
cies.
Mrs. Houghton, the MSA said,
will head an entirely new MSA
division "for refugees, migration
and travel." Her responsibilities
will include problems involving
refugees in Europe, the Middle
East and Far East.
An active clubwoman, Mrs.
Houghton served from 1950 to
1952 as president of the General
Federation of Women's Clubs:
Her husband is president of the
Houghton State Bank in Iowa.
She holds membership in the
Daughters of the American Re-
volution a n d other organiza-
tions.

Mrs. Morris Hurwitz, of Monte

BERLIN, (JTA) — Dr. Joseph
J. Schwartz, executive v i c e-
chairman of the United Jewish
Appeal, toured Jewish communal
institutions h e r e, accompanied
by Samuel Haber, Joint Distri-
bution Committee director for
Germany.
Dr. Schwartz, who is studying
the situation of Jewish refugees,
will fly to Munich , for a visit
with DP's at the Foehrenwald
camp before proceeding to Vien-
na.
While in Berlin, he attended
a seder at the Wannsee camp
for 400 refugees from the Soviet
Zone of Germany. Rabbi Max
Nussbaum, of Hollywood, a
