has been announced by the
Jewish National Fund of Ameri-
ca. Prizes will range from cer-
tificates of recognition to in-
scriptions in the Golden Book
and up to $100 worth of Israel
products.
The system of awards has
been worked out to encourage
the placement of Blue-White
Boxes in every Jewish home, and
also to make more people who
are interested in Israel and its
progress, aware of the variety
and quality of products manu-
factured in Israel by Israeli
firms.
"Many members of the Detroit
organizations affiliated with the
Detroit Council of the Jewish
National Fund, and others in-
terested in the redemption and
reclaiming of the land in Israel,
are now participating in the
Blue-White placement," asserted
David Silver, local chairman of
the box placement committee.
Mr. Silver is sure that most of
them will win recognition for
their work, and also for their
respective organizations.
The awards as announced by
the Jewish National Fund are:
1. Every volunteer distribut-
ing a minimum of 10 boxes dur-
ing the Box Month is .to receive
a Certificate of Participation.
2. Thirty-five awards will be
made to the volunteers dis-
tributing the greatest number of
boxes during Box Month.
3. The first award for the
volunteer distributing the great-
est number of boxes in the U.S.
will be a Golden Book Certificate
and - Tozereth Haaretz (Israel
products), to the value of $100.
4. The t w o volunteers dis-
tributing the next largest num-
ber of boxes will each receive
a Golden Book Certificate and
Tozereth Haaretz (Israel prod-
ucts) , to the value of $50.
5. Seven Golden Book Cer-
tificates will be awarded to the
seven volunteers distributing the
next largest number of boxes.
6. Twenty-five awards of spe-.
cial JNF souvenirs from Israel
will be made to the twenty-five
volunteers distributing the next
largest amount of boxes.
The Detroit Jewish National
Fund Council stresses the op-
portunity that is now given to
box-holders to have their names
inscribed in the Golden Book in
Jerusalem. E v e r y box-holder
will receive a Blue-White Box
Account Book, in which will be
entered the amount at each box
clearance. When the sum of
$100 is reached, the box-holder
or anyone he chooses, will auto-
matically be inscribed in the
Golden Book.

Women's 'Minimum Tea'
Shows Gain Over '52

Pre-campaign members of the
Women's Division of the 1953
Allied Jewish Campaign met last
week for their $500 Minimum
Gifts Passover Tea. Stage star
Helen Hayes and Mrs. S. A.
Brailove, honorary chairman of
the National Women's Division
of the United Jewish Appeal,
addressed the gathering.
Pledges made at the affair
showed a substantial increase
over last year's results. Mrs.
Eugene J. Arnfeld, chairman of
Pre-Campaign, announced that
"she is well pleased with the
warm response of the women
who attended the tea. Their
enthusiastic giving has set the
pace for the 1953 Campaign," -
she said. Mrs. Lewis B. Daniels,
chairman of the Women's drive,
presided.
In her address, Mrs. Brailove
stated that "the Jews behind
the Iron Curtain are hoping for
a seder in Israel next year. What
we do in the 1953 Campaign
means the answer to their pray-
ers."

A social affair open to paid-
up members of the Young Mar:-
rieds Group of Temple Israel will
be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, in
the temple youth hall.
The program will feature a
pot luck supper and a program
of games, directed, respectively,
by Mrs. Jack Wolrauch and Je-
