Since its founding in 1914,
JDC has spent nearly $3,125,000
for special Passover appropria-
tions. With this sum it has
sent more than 20,525,000 pounds
of matzos, matzo meal, shmurah
flour, wine and other Passover
supplies to needy men, women
and children in nearly 60 coun-
tries.
This Passover, however, will
see tens of thousands of others
in more desperate need of re-
assurance than ever before.

In this hour, the aid of JDC
—aid provided chiefly by Amer-
ican Jews through the _United
Jewish Appeal—is the major
factor which stands between
them and complete hopelessness
and despair.
It is for this reason that,
whether the seder will take
place in the Community Cen-
ter at Camp Foehrenwald or
in the ghetto of a North Afri-
can city, in an orphanage in
France or a tuberculosis saui-
tarium or a JDC-subsidized
yeshivah in Israel, JDC will be

in nearly all of the hundred in-
stitutions in Israel which are
subsidized by Malben, the JDC
program on behalf of the aged,
ill and handi-
capped new-
comers to Israel.

tutions, more

In addition, 1,580 rehabilita-
tion loans provided by Malben
have made it possible for almost
6,000 - men, women and children
to eat the matzos and drink the
wine which these newcomers,
once classified as "hard core,"
have this year earned through
their own labors.

In Moslem_ lands, too, in
Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and
Iran, thousands will be look-
ing to JDC not only for aid in
combating malnutrition and
disease, but for reassurance

that they have not been for-
gotten. To them, JDC's aid
has always been in the nature
of a miracle. JDC food and
