National Jewish Welfare Board,
are leaving for Korea, on of-
ficially sponsored government
missions during which they will
participate in GI Passover serv-
ices and bring holiday greetings

personnel on 'duty with the
American Armed Forces in the
Far East.
The two Passover visitors are
Rabbi Morris Lieberman, of Bal-
timore, and Col. Harry D. Hen-
shel, New York, national chair-
man of JWB's Armed Services
Committee.

NEW YORK, (JTA) -- The
month of March has been set
aside as "Hebrew Month" in an
effort to stimulate and promote
interest in the study of the
Hebrew language and culture
throughout the United States,
Samuel J. Borowsky, president of
the Histadruth Ivrith, American
Hebrew Language and Culture
Association, announced here.
He said that "Hebrew Month"
will be carried out in cooperation
with leading national Jewish or-
ganizations. Special observances
will be held during "Hebrew
Month" by communities, general
organizations, Zionist groups and
schools across the country.

Israeli-Arab Forces

Fight Border Battles

TEL AVIV, (JTA) — An Israeli
patrol and a unit of Jordan ir-
regulars fought a pitched battle
in the border area near Hebron,
an Israeli military spokesman
announced here. One Israeli
soldier was seriously wounded
while the Arab forces suffered a
number of casualties.
An Israeli soldier was killed
earlier when border troops
clashed with Jordanian forces
north of Beth Jibran on the Is-
ra,e1-Jordan border, the military
spokesman said. He charged
that the Jordanians penetrated
Israel territory and were driven
off after a brief skirmish during
which they suffered a number
of casualties.
A half-hour clash occurred be-
tween Israeli and Jordan mili-
tary units in an area north of
Beersheba, a military spokesman
announced. The battle occurred
when an Israel patrol spotted
Jordan troops inside the Israel
frontier. The Jordanians with-
d r e w, taking their casualties
with them. There were no Is-
raeli casualties.
Israel fishing vessels on Lake
Huleh were fired upon by Syrian
troops in northern Palestine, it
was announced here. It was also
revealed that an Israeli fishing
village on the edge of the lake
was the target of Syrian fire. No
casualties occurred on either the
vessels or at the village. The Is-
r a e 1 representatives on • the
Mixed Armistice Commission
have protested.

JNF Holds 80% of
Agricultural Land

Dr. Abraham Granott, chairman
of the board of directors of the
Jewish National Fund in Jeru-
salem, revealed at the annual
meeting of the National Advi-
sory board of JNF, at the Wald-
orf-Astoria, New York, that 80
per cent of the total Jewish
agriculture land in the State of
Israel is in the hands of JNF
and that four-fifths of the total
agricultural land in the State of
Israel derives from Jewish Na-
tional Fund holdings. Congress-
man Emanuel Celler, chairman
of the JNF national advisory
board, presided, and Dr. Harris
J. Levine, president of the JNF
of America, greeted the guest
from overseas. Mendel N. Fisher,
executive director, rendered a

report.
