installed senior rabbi of Temple
Beth El at 8:15 p.m„ April 3.
Dr. Maiirice N. Eisendrath,
president of the Union of Amer-
ican 'Hebrew Congregations, Dr.
Nelson Glueck, president of the
Hebrew Union College-Jewish
Institute of Religion, and Dr.
Louis L. Mann, rabbi of the
Chicago Sinai Cong., will parti-
cipate in the ceremonies,

Cong. Ahavas Achim Sunday
School will hold a model seder
for all pupils at 11 a.m., Sunday,
in the synagogue. Classes at the
Vernor School will be excused so
all students may attend.
Alex Roberg, principal, and
the school staff, are preparing
a replica of the seder table, and
the Sisterhood education com-
mittee is. preparing _the holiday
food. Dr. Kenneth Balen, chair-
man of the congregation educa-
tion committee, has invited par-
ents to watch the proceedings.
At 8:15 p.m., that evening, the
congregation will hold its Spring
Festival. A buffet supper at the
sYnagOgue - will be followed by
dancing. Charles Vikser is chair-
man, and members of the Sis-
terhood will prepare dinner.
The congregation was recently
host to Evergreen Jewish Com-
munity and newly-fanned Oak
Park Jewish Center, for a con-
ference on synagogue problems.
Addressing the regional confer-
ence was Dr. Leonard Sidlow,
representing the United' Syna
gogue of America and Cong.

Stages Passover Play

will present a Passover play,

Zedek, was elected president of
the region, which includes Mich-.
igan, Southern On t a r i o and
Western Ohio. The new organ-
ization will unify the clubs' ef-
forts locally for mutual advan-
tage.

sing in 1947 from Chicago. In
Lansing, he also serves as direc-
tor of Bnai Brith Hillel Founda-
tion at Michigan State College,
and is a lecturer on Judaism in
the department of religion.

France, this week Wrote to The
Jewish News expressing her ap-
preciation to all of the Jewish
people who have helped her and
her fellow countrymen in re-
building their lives following
the holocaust of World. War II.
Mme. Birkan singles out Rabbi
Hob er man, of

interest in the
affairs of .s u r-
viving Jews, not
only in France
but in Italy,
Germany and-
Israel.

Mme. Birkan, became acquaint-
ed with her through a letter
sent by a friend. What he has
,lone, she adds, is to help bring
back to the fold of Judaism her-
self and her two children, who
the war "had reduced to great
misery." •
• "Not only has he helped us
morally and materially," s h e
says, "but Rabbi Hoberman has
aided ,two boys whose father
was killed in a concentration
camp to grow up healthy from
all points of view."

United Hebrew Schools
Tells of Holiday Plans

.Passover workshops and model
sedorim,yplanned and arranged
by members of the staff, in co-
operation with the Parent
Teachers Organizations, will be
held in all the branches of the
United Hebrew Schools during
the week proceeding Passover,
as follows:
At Adas Shalom, because of
the large number' of students,
two sedorim will be held at
4 p.m. Thursday. At Bnai Moshe,
there will also be two sedorim
the same day. The Central
Branch will conduct their seder
together with the Bnai Moshe
pupils.
The seder and workshop of
the Schaefer Branch will be
held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, in the
auditroium of the Ahavas Achim.
Synagogue. In the Lin wood
Branch, the seder will be held
on Thursday.
The workshop for the PTO of
Beth Aaron Branch will be con-
ducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, the
model sedorim will be conducted
on Thursday. Rose Sittig Cohen.
Branch will conduct its seder•on
Wednesday.

1 can Gold Standard
salmon, broken
11/2 cups liquid from
salmon plus milk
2 tablespoons
margarine

S tablespoons lour

Y4 teaspoon salt

Y. teaspoon pepper, : •
1 bay leaf

• 1 tablespoorychopped

6 small onions
Y4 cup buttered. trend's

Drain liquid from salmon, add milk to
make 11/2 cups. Remove bones and skin

from salmon as desired. Break salmon into-
pieces; put into greased casserole. Top
with cooked onions and chOpped pimento.
Mcike a sauce from the mar-
garine, flour and liquid. Melt
margarine, stir in flour and
add milk and bay leaf. Cook
to smooth sauce. Pour sauce
over salmon and onions, re-
moving the bay leaf. Top cas-
serole with crumbs. Bake in
400 degrees oven 20 minutes.
Serves 6.
