The appointment of Kaplan 14 in line with the JNF program for cordinating all JNF activi- ties, and expanding its scope to include all landsmanshaften and other orgnizations. From 1944 to 1947, Kaplan worked in the Jewish Federation and Combined Jewish Appeal of . Chicago. From 1947 to 1950, he was regional director of the Jewish Theological Seminary. He also Worked on the public re- lations staff of the Chicago Medical School. His last position before corn- ing here was with Chicago's State of Israel Bond office. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, he moved to Toronto in 1934 and remained there until his Chi- cago appointment. From 1928-30 he was executive secretary of the Zionist Organization of Western Canada. Then for three years he worked on Winnipeg's Jewish Post, later working on The Jewish Standard, 1934-36, and after that as editor of the English page of the Toronto Daily Hebrew Journal.
