Folk Schools Workshop
Planned for Purim

In preparation for Purim, the
PTA of the United Jewish Folk
Schools will hold a holiday
workshop on Thursday, at the
school, 13722 Linwood, under the
direction of Mesdames Rose
Kruger, Renee Schuster and
Esther Chapnick.
The workshop will be a pre-
lude to the annual observance
in the school classes, which is
planned for March 1. Two cele-
brations are planned.
At 10:30 a.m., morning and
afternoon nursery classes will
prepare a show, complete with
songs, dances, pantomimes in
costumes and masks.
The grade school will hold its
celebration at 2 p.m. The pro-
gram will include the reading_
of the Megillah, presentation of
a Purim operetta, songs, recita-
tions and a masquerade. Prizes
will be awarded for the best cos-
tumes.
Shalach Mones will be given
to all children. Both events are
scheduled for the LZOA Insti-
tute.

Many hours of rehearsing are
In store for the cast of "The
Man Who Came to Dinner," the
production by George Kaufman
and Moss Hart, which will be
presented as Mumford's first
school play.
Although preference was given
to 12A's, the cast was chosen
from the entire student body.
Miss Dorothy Patterson will di-
rect the play, assisted by stu-
dent directors, Margaret Gal-
donyi and Shirley Fealk.
Members of the cast for the
play, which will be given two
performances, are Lee Castle-
man, Pat O'Connell, Shelda
Sklar, John Franklin, Joel Gott-
lieb, Bruce S i e g a n, Richard

be presented at 8:15 p.m., March
26 and 27, at Pershing High
School.
Mumford co-ops have invited
their bosses to attend the an-
nual Co-op Bosses Dinner, which
will bring employee and employ-
er together in a closer relation-
ship. Ann Green will be mistress
of ceremonies, and Shirleyann

Young People's Society Plans
Service at Shaarey Zedek

The Young People's Society of
Detroit, in conjunction with
the 40th anniversary of the
United Synagogue of America,
will honor the occasion with a
late service -at 8 p.m., today, in
the Kate Frank Memorial
Chapel of Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Rabbi Julius Weinberg will
speak on "A Liberal Point of
View." All Jewisli young adults
are invited to the service and
to an oneg shabbat which will

follow.

Brotherhood was in the air at
Central this week, as students
and faculty joined in efforts to
further the sponsorship of the
national program to foster bet-
ter human relations and under-
standing. The library, with the
help of Miss Hahn, has set up
a display of books on human
relations; Dr. Harry Seitz con-
ducted musical interludes over
the school PA system; the art
department, under Miss Nelson,
made posters and banners for
the halls.

The "Centralite" this year will
be edited by Bev Ribiat, who is
an avid writer and artist. Assist-
ing her will be Geri Primack,
activities editor; Rita Wein-
burger, graduation editor; Ka-
ren Lipkin, sports editor; and
Benita Ravin, art editor.

At the 12A meeting last Fri-
day, plans for this year's senior
trip were made, with the destin-
ation a toss-up between Wash-
ington, D.C., and Niagara Falls.
Also, along the senior line, it
is important for all would-be
graduates to visit Mr. Burger
Bakke in room 122 to find out
when you have an appointment
to visit the photographer for
senior graduation pictures.
