Rabbi and Mrs. Walter H. Plaut (she is the former Hadassah
Yanich of Detroit) and their son, Yehuda Hillel, are residing aC
432 E. Memorial Dr., S.E., Cedar Rapids, Ia., following a two-year
stay in Israel. Rabbi Plaut is the spiritual leader of Temple Judah
in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Averbuch, of Cortland Ave., recently hoh-
ored their daughter, Ellen, with a party celebrating her sixteenth
birthday., Among those present were: Ethel Perlmutter, Joel Lubin,
Shirley Weinstock, Larry Hurwitz, Brenda Freedman, Irwin Adel-
son, Rita Kazdan, Wilbur Rice, Judy Alzofon, Eddy Klarman, Ar-
leene Goldenberg, Eugene Salesin, Pat Smith, Harvey Litwin,
Elaine Blau, Alan Zane, Eleanor Blau, Frank Zweig, Rachel Wen-
ner, Austin Katz, Mimi Silverman, Jimmy Weitzman, Sandra
Cohen, Kenny Biller, Sandra Lyness, Earl Fuller, Rhona Fidler,
Chuck Tobisman, Esther Fuller, Erwin Bloom, Harriet Carmen,
Sheldon Roth, Thelma Tapper, Jerry Tipman, Sandra Mays and
Loide Bassin. Ellen's host was Harry Lipsitz.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Winsen, of Lansing, Mich., honored their
daughter, Sandra Lee; and were hosts to members of Chi Chapter,
Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity and their dates at a Sunday morn-
- ing breakfast, following the formal dinner-dance of the fraternity
at the Hotel Olds. Corning from Detroit as weekend guests to
attend the dance and Michigan State College J-Hop were the
Misses Sandra Pilnick, whose date was Herbert Katz, of Lansing,
and Morreen Pritz, hosted by Ron Sider. Miss Wisen's escort for
both affairs was Laurence Thompson, of Frankfurt, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis W. Freedman, of 18272 Fairfield; will cele-
brate their 25th wedding anniversary this week, at their winter
home at 5310 N. Bay Rd., Miami Beach, Fla. Flying South for the
occasion will be their children, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Shevin, and
daughter, Jody Beth, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schwartz, from
Detroit. Mrs. Friedman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. Kay, and her
sister, of New York, will also arrive for the celebration.
Edith Albert Freedman, of Whitmore Rd., has returned from
a six week stay on the West Coast. In addition to visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Albert in Los Angeles, she also traveled to
Palm Springs, San Diego and Mexico.
Mr and Mrs. Arthur Cutler, of Collingwood Ave., entertained
at a dinner party recently in honor of their son Ezra's Bar Mitz-
vah. Among the out-of-town guests were Mrs. Cutler's father,
Isser Cohen, sisters, Mrs. Sara Lebowitz and daughter, Florence,
and Miss Rose Cohen, and a brother, Joseph Cohen, all of New
York City.
• Laurence Keith Howard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Robert
Howard, of Cunningham Park, Flushing, L.I., will spend several
days at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ko-
nop, of 18936 Stansbury, while his parents are on vacation in
California and Mexico. The Howards will return here to spend
a few days before returning to New York.
Mrs Benjamin Cohen of 1116 Parent Ave., Windsor, Ontario,
will entertain at her home at a tea, Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-10 p.m.,
proceeds will go to the Mizrachi Organization in honor of the 55th
wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Cohen. Assisting
their mother will be her daughters, MrS. M. Katzman of Chatham,
Ontario, Mrs. S. L. Goodman, Mrs. B. Nathan, Mrs. G. Bassin, and
Miss Molly Cohen from Detroit, and Mrs. A. Cohen and Mrs. S. L.
Cohen, of Windsor. No cards.

"Does youth face a secure
economic outlook?," is the ques-
tion that will face Nancy Eisen-
hauer, Ruth Rothman, Burt
Stillman and Norton Cohen on
the Junior Town Meeting of the
Air, patterned after the Town
Meeting of the Air, Feb. 25, in
the library. It will be heard
over WDTR and WJR. It is un-
der the direction of Lewis
Schulman.

Central's Student Council was
reorganized by laSt term's offi-
cers and a faculty group to
make it more representative of
the student body. The 24 Coun-
cil members are elected by grade
and study halls—one represent-
ative from each grade—in each
study hall. Qualifications are:
a "C" average, counselor's and
parents' approval and teacher's
signature. Applicants' must sub-
mit petitions signed by 20 stu-
dents from candidate's grade.
Central students paid tribute
to the memory of Miss Ella Sly-
field, counselor of Elliot Hall,
who passed away after a long
illness, at her home in Frank-
fort, Mich. Before becoming a
counselor, Miss Slyfield taught
Spanish.
The new counselor of Elliot
Hall is Samuel Milan.

Students of the Adas Shalom
Religious School recently bought
150 trees to be planted, through
the Jewish National Fund in
Israel. The occasion was the
school's annual observance of
