Soviet May Break Relations
With Israel, London Believes

LONDON, (JTA ) —Moscow's
violent attacks on the Israel
government and its leaders was
seen as a prelude to the Soviet
Union's breaking off of diplo-
matic relations with Israel, in a
prediction made by the diplo-
matic correspondent of the Daily
Telegraph who suggested that the
break might come after the I
trial of the nine Soviet doctors
arrested in a "terrorist" pia
against the lives of top Soviet
political and military leaders.
The correspondent said he be-
lieved that the Soviet authori-•
ties would use the trial of the
doctors as an excuse for the
break which, he added, will not
sit .well with world public opin-
ion.. He pointed out that the
same action was taken, in ef-
fect, by the Warsaw and Prague
governments after the Prague
trial.

_with the Jewish Agency, and

article published in the New
Times, official publication of the
Soviet Ministry of Foreign Af-
fairs. The article also termed
Ambassador Abba Eban, Israel's
envoy to Washington and head
of the Israel delegation at the
Unite d Nations, a "British
agent." The Zionist movement,
the article said, is "an agency
of American. intelligence." -
- The Soviet organ • also attack-
ed the American Joint Distribu-
tion , Committee. It claimed that
although the JDC has not been
operating in - the Soviet Union
for a number of years, its
"agents" have been conducting
underground activities in the
coun try.
Asserting that "the Zionist
agents have been caught red-
handed," the organ of the So-
viet Foreign Office charged the
Zionist movement with "sup-
porting American aggression and
preparation by the imperialists
for a new world war." It said
that Zionist leaders are "mali-
ciously hostile" towards the So-
viet Union and declared that
"Israel's representatives at the
United Nations aid the Anglo-
American bloc in interfering
with Soviet proposals directed at
strengthening f r i e ndship be-
tween peoples."
In attacking the Zionist move-
ment and the leaders of the Is-
rael Government, the article
went so far as to claim that
they were helping promote anti-
Semitism and supporting a pol-
icy' of restoring Hitlerism.

Israel Charges Arabs Nith Armistice Defiance

TEL AVIV, (JTA)—The Arab
states along Israel's borders, es-
pecially Jordan, have adopted a
hostile policy toward Israel, and
have disregarded armistice
agreements which they have
have signed, charged Lt. Col.
Haim Gaon, Israel's senior dele-
gate to the four Mixed Armistice
Commissions.
He said that the "tightening
anti-Israel line" both in the
Mixed Armistice Commissions
and along the border became
evident following a meeting in
Amman last November of the
Arab delegates to the UN-super-
vised bodies.
He added, as another indica-
tion of the Arab attitude, that
the Arabs have been demanding
the dismissal of Gen. William E.
Reilly, American chief of the UN

truce set-up, who Col. Gaon.
said, "wants peace."
In reviewing the worsening
situation along Jordan frontiers,
Col. Gaon pointed out that Arab
troops have been firing on Is-
raeli patrols, invading Israel
territory and have refused to
release Israeli soldiers acciden-
tally crossing the border, al-
though an agreement provides
for the "early exchange" of such
troops.
