Offering the Family a Menu Change

Announcement was made this
week of leaders in the Women's
Division, Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration, 1953 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign.
Senior advisor again this year
is Mrs. Joseph H. Ehrlich. Mrs.
Henry Wineman, last year's
honorary chairman, will be
joined this year by Mrs. Abra-
ham Cooper, a chairman of the
1952 campaign.
Leading the Women's Division
drive will be Mrs. Lewis B. Dan-
iels, as campaign chairman;
Mrs. Harry L. Jackson, execu-
tive vice-chairman; and Mes-
dames Harry L. Jones, Max
Frank, Seymoul- J. Frank, Sid-
ney J. Karbel and Julian H. Kro-
lik, vice-chairmen.
Other leaders appointed are
Mesdames Leonard H. Weiner,
executive committee chairman;
Samuel S. Aaron, executive com-
mittee vice-chairman; Eugene
J. Arnfeld, pre-campaign chair-
man; William B. Isenberg, spe-
cial gifts chairman; and Alex-
ander W. Sanders, general solic-
itation chairman.

Beth Aaron School
Begins New Term

Berriard Panush, director of
the Beth Aaron Religious
School, announces the beginning
of the new term on Sunday.
Educational co-chairmen, Drs.
Marvin Last and A. Cohen, will
process new registrations from
10 a.m. to 12 noon at MacDowell
School, where all classes are
conducted.
The school this year will in-
troduce a more intensive study
of Jewish and Israeli songs, both
in classrooms and in a chorus,
which is to be formed under the
guidance of Cantor Judah Gold-
ring.
Hebrew study is mandatory
for seventh and eighth grade
pupils, with .these classes joint-
ly sponsored by the school and
the United Hebrew Schools.
Other courses include Bible, his-
tory, religion,- customs, music,
Zionism, current events and
modern Israel.

First patient to be admitted for treatment at Sinai Hospital

of Detroit was Joseph B. Gendloff, of 3212 Pingree, who climaxed

38 years of effort in behalf of a, Jewish -hospital in Detroit by win-
ning this distinction. Pictured -are, left to right, Mrs. Harriet,
Obermiller, chief admitting officer, Mrs. Gendloff, Mr. Gendloff,
and Irving Field, the Gendloffs' son-in-law. The hospital, an
agency of the Jewish Welfare Federation, was dedicated earlier
this month.

Wayne Professor to Speak
On Russia to Montefiore Lodge

Montefiore Lodge, Free Sons
of Israel, will meet Monday eve-
ning, at the Lee Plaza Hotel.
Dr. Ferdinand F. Mauser, Wayne
University _ professor, will speak
on "Life Behind the Iron Cur-
tain."
Dr. Mauser is a reserve major
in the United States armed
forces, and is an authority on
Russia. •

A series of special activities
has been planned for February
for residents of the Jewish Home
for Aged. Programs will include:
On Wednesday; a presentation
by Bnai Moshe Sisterhood of its
cantata, "Seven Golden But-
tons."
On Feb. 11; an invitation to all
residents to attend the annual
concert of the Cantor's Associa-
tion, to be presented at Cong.
Bnai David.
On Feb. '15; an invitation from
the Detroit Symphony Orchestra
to be guests at its Family Con-
cert at Masonic Temple.
On Feb: 19; the monthly birth-
day party at the Home, spon-
sored this day by Detroit Chap-
ter, Bnai Brith.
Guest readers during •the
month will be Phillip Nichamin
and Israel Elpern. Games and

At Mainionides Meeting

A special luncheon meeting is
planned by the Women's Auxi-
liary of the Maimonides Medical
Society at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday.,
at the Detroit Histofical Museum.
Chaim Gottleib, currently here

go for the scholarships to medi-
cal students at Wayne Univer-

Beans in Tomato Sauce
2 teaspoons lemon rinds
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Heat oven to 375`.7. (moderately hot).
Combine ingredients in 1-quart casserole.
Garnish with lemon slices and whole
cloves. Bake at 375°F. for 25 minutes or
until hot. Makes 6 servings.
Variation: Orange may be used on place
of lemon throughout recipe.
