Halevy-Levin, the Autumn 1952
issue recently made its appear-
ance, indicating what is to be
expected from future publica-
tions.
As explained in the first is-
sue, Argosy is not an anthology,
It is restricted "to making He-
brew literature accessible to the
English reader, through the
medium of translation.
The first issue includes a
story, "The New Hbuse," by a
member of the younger literary
school, Y. Bar-Yosef. An older
writer, David • Frishman (1862-
1922) is included with his story
"The Dancer." There is Yehuda
Ya'ari's story "Gilah Has a
Father." The noted . writer,
Shmuel Yosef Agnon, now in
his 65th year, is represented
with his story "Chemdat."
Uri Zvi Greenberg's "Tale of
An Ancient Jerusalemite," in.
Hebrew with English transla-
tion, is the prize of the book.
It is a magnificent poem, excel-
lently done into English by Sho-
lom J.. Kahn.
All of the stories reflect life
in Israel. The essays -"Convoy
