Davison Center
Begins Third Year

One of Detroit's youngest com-
munity institutions, the Davison
branch of the Jewish Commu-
nity Center, will celebrate three
years of community service on
Jan. 15.
Because of the great demand
for Center services in the Dex-
ter-Davison area, the agency
this fall opened the D. W. Si-
mons branch, at Tuxedo and
Holmur, to siphon off some of
the groups who have overtaxed
the Davison facilities.
An innovation, introduce d
primarily to serve teen agers
whose "clubhouse" has become
the Davison branch, is the bus
service, operated on Wednesday
evenings to take teen-age mem-
bers to the Woodward build-
ing for swimming and sports,.
The • Davison building came
about partly through coopera-
tion of the Jewish War Veterans
who made the land available in
return for joint building plans,
resulting in two buildings, the
Center and the JWV Memorial.
This branch was, the first
completely n e w facility con-
structed f o r Center purposes,
and the first provided entirely
out of Allier/ Jewish Campaign
funds.

Here is the sale thrifty Detroit women wait for! Pupko is not a "sale store" ... We hold
sales only twice a year ... but when we do it means values unequalled anywhere in the
country! Pupko quality, of course, goes without saying ... so ... come in and get your
share of these outstanding reductions!

Sen. Homer Ferguson an-
nounced his intention to re-in-
troduce two pieces of civil-
rights legislation in January
during the early days of the
new 83rd Congress.
Ferguson said he would put
anti-lynch and anti-poll tax
bills into the legislative hopper.
He had sponsored each of the
bills in the previous sessions of
Congress.
