HARTFORD, Conn., (JTA) —
The U.S. Army said Sidney J.
Green, of this city, one of Gen.
Pershing's• doughboys in World
War 1, was "too old" to be a GI
in World War II. Green sat out
World War • II under protest as
a retired soldier. -
During his retirement he join-
ed the Connecticut State Guard
and when the KOrean conflict
broke out, his unit was called
to active duty. So Mr. Green,
who was too old for .World War
II, served in Korea with the
rank of master sergeant. Now
he's home for keeps and at the
age of 59, it is doubtful whether
with all hit ingenuity, he can
slip back into the armed forces.
