All-Kosher Hospital Kitchen ActIon

Continues; Lewisohn Does Not Appear:
Irwin Cohn Pleads for the 'Status Quo' Bnai Moshe Youth
To Lead Service

Mr. Levine, who moved the
resolution, demanded that the
also be instituted at the hospital
a synagogue with a Sefer Torah
for use by-patients for religious
services. His resolution express-
ed the concensus of those pres-
ent that their ,Stand in behalf-
of an all-kosher kitchen at the
hospital, without concessions,
remains unchanged.

Proponents of the movement
that Sinai Hospital be turned
into an all-kosher institution,
meeting . at the Bnai David, on
Monday evening, again called
upon the hospital board to ad-
here to its demands.
A special committee was chos-
en from among those in attend-
ance to deal again with the hos-
pital board in support of this
aim. The resolution adopted at
the meeting, introduced by Louis
Levine, who is active in Hista-
drut and the Landsmanshaften,
declares that in the event the
hospital board refuses to accede
to the demands for an all-kosher
hospital that other means be
found to implement action in
support of the movement.

Irwin Cohn, a member of
the board of Sinai Hospital,
who said he spoke for himself
alone, urged acceptance of the
"status quo"—of the existence
of a general kitchen and two
(dairy and -meat) kitchens in
the hospital, in view of the
fact that it is a non-sectarian
institution.

David J. Cohen presided at
the rally and the principal
speakers were Rabbi Oscar Z.
Fasman of Chicago and Rabbi
Isaac Stollnian of Detroit.

Mr. Cohn assured the gather-
ing that there will be provisions
for kosher food for all who de-
sire it ,and that in the event the
present facilities should prove
inadequate they will be enlarged
to fulfill the needs of the kash-
ruth-,observers. He asserted that

Dr. Ludwig Lewisohn, who was
to have been the principal

speaker at the • gathering, de-
clined to appear and it was inti-
mated that "pressure" *was ex- all provisions have been made
