S—THE JEWISH NEWS Fifd4Y; December 26, 1-952 A CALL TO THE COMMUNITY ... And An Invitation— The Committee for an All-Kosher Sinai Hospital has arranged a Public Meeting Monday Evening, -Dec. 29, 8:30 P.M. Ludwig Lewisohn at Congregation B'nai David Elmhurst at 14th With LUDWIG LEWISOHN as Guest Speaker We Extend a Cordial Invitation to All Come and hear this outstanding American Jewish tribune discuss the real issues involved. Enjoy a rare intellectual treat, and express- your own views on the vital question: "SHALL A JEWISH COMMUNAL INSTITUTION RESPECT KASHRUTH, ONE OF THE FOREMOST TENETS OF OUR HISTORIC FAITH?" We Believe: 1. That the Jews of Detroit who have been -working and waiting several decades for a Jewish hospital had in mind an ALL-KOSHER institution, rather than a ghetto-kitchen set apart from the larger TREFA facilities. 2. That the non-Jewish community will respect us for, the observance of our 3,000-year-old Dietary ,Laws dis- tinctly- associated with the Jewish cuisine. 3. 'That the general 'administration of Sinai Hospital will be more economical and more efficient if Kosher food is provided to ALL patients except those on a special diet. 4. That the matter of conscience involved for thousands of local Jewish families who may at one time or another require the facilities of the hospital, far outweighs the negligible inconvenience for the few who object to an all-Kosher menu. , 5. That G-d, the Healer of the Sick by whose command we build hospitals and do works of charity, will bless the work of our . hands. We dare not trespass his Divine Law hallowed by long ages of Jewish life and martyrdom for that very cause. '
