Seek Phy sicians to Aid
Israel Medical Group

A letter was sent last week to
500 Detroit Jewish physicians
inviting them to become non-
resident members of the Israel
Medical Association. Funds de-
rived from dues will go toward
projects designed to elevate
standards of medical practice in
the new state.
The letter adivsees local physi-
cians that "although Israel is
making great strides in over-
coming its health problems,
brought about by the unparal-
leled influx of newcomers, the
IMA has •found it necessary to
look for aid from its American
colleagues."
The doctors' group will be
known as the American Physi-
cians Fellowship Committee of
the Israel Medical Association.
One of its prime purposes will
be to disseminate American
"know how" by sending prom-
inent doctors to Israel, bringing
Israeli physicians here and ship-
ping medical books, journals and
supplies to the new nation.
Membership in the APFCIMA
already numbers 1300 in the
U.S. and Canada, and its work
was recently cited at the second
World Congress of Jewish Physi-
cians in Jerusalem. Dr. Bernard
Weston urges all physicians to
return the blanks sent them,
and thus avoid personal solici-
tation.
