Tonight, as the spirit. of Hanukah settles over our com-
munity and many happy hours are passed in both our homes
and our synagogues, let us all remember that it is with great
pride and with much humility that we celebrate the Feast
of Lights. The significance of Hanukah to the Jewish people
can be summed up best in one word—"victory."
For it was Judah Maccabee's victory many years ago that
probably made it possible to worship our inspiring religion
today. Like Judah, we Kosher Butcher's feel that we are
winning a victory—a victory for Judaism as well as a triumph
for the Jewish housewife.
By selling strictly Kosher meats, we maintain our age-old
Biblical injunction of Kashruth. That certainly is a victory
for Judaism.
By giving to the Jewish housewife only the very finest
quality meats and poultry, by dealing courteously with all
our customers, by doing countless little services, which are
difficult to find at any other butcher shop today, your Kosher
Butcher is helping the housewife to win a victory against the
high cost of living.
The fact is that at your Kosher Butcher's you are dealing
with an expert in meats and poultry. He knows his products
and can assure you only the very highest grade of meat and
poultry. He knows his customers, and can serve them exact-
ly to their choosing. And these are the facts that make
shopping at your Kosher Butcher pleasant and profitable.
As we celebrate Hanukah this year, let us all keep in
mind that in this country of ours prayer is a right—not a
privilege. Let us all pray that together we will always keep
our country strong in a land where we have the freedom to
worship as we choose. Let us pray for the strength of our
children—that in the Yeshivoth, Sunday Schools and Re-
ligious Schools they will learn what preceding generations
of Jews have been able to accomplish, and that soon they
will take their place along side our famous Jews of the past.
