A group of Jewish students at
the University of Michigan
joined with the Committee of
Laymen and the Rabbinate of
Detroit in protesting against the
proposed use of non-kosher food
at Sinai Hospital.
Accompanying the petition
was a letter in which the stu-
dents who come from Detroit,
state that although they are not
in a position actively to help the
committee, they wish to add
their voices to those who signed
a petition requesting an all-
kosher food policy at Sinai Hos-
pital.
At a meeting of the organiza-
tional delegates, attended by 300,
at the Bnai Moshe,, Dec. 1, David
Rappaport, a student at Wayne
University, said:
"You can count on college men
and women to .share in all your
deliberations and future work on
behalf of an all-kosher hospital."
Rabbi Samuel R. Weiss, direc-
tor of the National Council of
Young Israel, stated that the
observance of dietary laws is to
the traditional Jew not a matter
of religious scruples, rather a
pattern of living and, must be
respected by his brethren.

in New York are fighting a bat-
tle to obtain an all-kosher hos-
pital in Long Island. He said
that 300 scientists and scholars
had appended their signatures
