In order to qualify for prizes, a worker must sell a minimum of 10 bonds, amounting to a total valuation of at least $1,- 000. Plea by L. A. Daily News A leading newspaper urged its readers to support the new State of Israel by subscribing to the $500,000,000 Israel bond issue. Titled "Israel Bonds Are ,Good Investments," the Los Angeles Daily News editorial stated that "while Arab areas are important to us for their oil, Israel is worth even more to us in a moral and cultural way for it gives western democracy a beachhead where it needs it." "It is, therefore," the editorial says, "the responsibility of wes- tern nations, and chiefly Amer- ica, to make certain that Israel grows and prospers. One of the best ways to do this is to buy Bonds of the State of Israel.
