Synagogue of New York.
He is the compiler of "The
Hasidic . AnthologY" and_ "The
Talmudic Anthology," . and the
author of many books, including
his most. .recent book, "Living
With Ourselvds."
He is the Official Observer of
the Central Conference of Amer-
ican Rabbis at the United Na-
tions.

A 'special class has been or-
ganized by the Bnai David re-
ligious school to prepare girls
for the Bas Mitzvah ceremony.
This is the first such class in the
school's histoty.
Requirement for entrance is
graduation from a religious or
Hebrew school. The course is de-
signed as post-graduate work, in
which the girls will perfect their
knowledge of. Hebrew, Bible and
religious customs.
Girls enrolling in this season's
class will be eligible for Bas
Mitzvah in the spring of 1954:
The course will be instructed by'
Rabbi H. Mendeldwitz. Rabbit
Joshua S. Sperka and Eric
Greenbauni and visiting speak-
ers from various fieldt also will
participate in the program.
Those. interested in enrolling
should call the synagogue office,
daily or Central High School,-
from. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.,
Sunday.

Cong. Bnai David, its religious
school and auxiliary groups,
have set dates for their Hanu-
kah programs. Since the holiday
begins and ends on the Sab-
bath, services and sermons of
both days will be dedicated to
Hanukah.
The religious school will not
hold regular sessions on Dec. 14,
but will instead meet in the syn-
agogue for a special Hanukah
program. The Boy's Club will
conduct its regular minyan the
Sunday of Hanukah.
Both the Sisterhood, with a
program scheduled for Dec. 15,
and the Men's Club, whose event
will take place Dec., 18, are plan-
ning arrangements for the holi-
day.

Mishkan Israel to Hold
Annual Memorial Service

The traditional Teth-lrav-Kis-
lev observance, held, annually by
Cong. Mishkan. Israel, will be
solemnized this year at 5 p.m.,
Sunday, in the synagogue. Be-
ginning with maariv services, at
which Cantor Sandor Green-
field will officiate, the event
is held by the Chevrah Kadisha
to honor departed members of
the Synagogue.
A banquet will follow services,
at which Dr. Max Kapustin, di-
rector of the Wayne University
Hillel Foundation, will speak on
"The Meaning of Yizkor Prayert'
in Jewish Liturgy."
Rabbi Issac Stollman will de-
liver a short sermon during the
services, reviewing the history
of the annual event. Tickets may
be obtained from Jacob Gold-
stein, sexton, 2925 Taylor, or at
the synagogue. The public is in,
vited.

Dedicated to Mizrachi

Kislev has been proclaimed as
Mizrachi month, it was announ-
ced by Phillip Stollman, presi-
dent of the Detroit Mizrachi.
The two Hanukah Shibosim,
Dec, 13 and 20, have been desig-
nated as Sabbaths devoted to
Mizrachi by local synagogues.
Rabbis and other speakers will
speak on the importance of re-
ligtQus Zionism.
These services will be held at
the following congregations on
Dec. 13: Bnai Zion, YOung Isra-
el, Mogen Abraham, Bnai Da-
vid, Bnai Jacob, Bnai Israel,
Beth Abraham, Adas Yeshurun,
Beth Shmuel, Synagogues par-
ticipating on Dec. 20 will be an-
nounced next week.
