Williams College Frat Pledges

British Jewry Fears
Germany's Nazi Activity ,

LONDON, (JTA) — Jewish or-
ganizations and leaders in Brit-
ain are disturbed over a public
mass meeting held in the Brit-
ish zone of Germany by some
6,000 former S.S. men. The Agu-
das Israel World Organization
has submitted a memorandum
to the Foreign Office asking
that immediate steps be taken
to .suppress all nea-Na.zi move-
ments.
The Board of Deputies \ of
British Jews, through its foreign
affairs committee, is planning
to ma.ke immediate representa-
tions to the Foreign Office. The
officers of the Anglo-Jewish
Association were reported dis-
cussing what action to take.
Barnett Janner, leader of the
Board of Deputies and an M.P.
called the situation a "shocking
state of affairs" and promised
to do what he could to "deal
with the matter."
A. L. Easterman, political di-
rector of the World Jewish Con-
gress asserted that the public
re-emergence of "Hitler's in-
famous S.S." is a clear warning
that "Germany is still far from
being qualified as a partner in
the defense of the democratic
world.

ing in a suburb of Hanover and
crowds booed and cursed the
policemen who dispersed if, the

Israel Government Occupies
Port of Jaffa Authority
TEL AVIV, (JTA)—The gov-
ernment of Israel took over op-
eration of the port of Jaffa from
the Tel Aviv Port Authority,
which had previously operated
the Jaffa port. Equipment for-
merly used by the Tel Aviv Port
Authority of Jaffa was also
turned over to the government,
under the terms of an agree-
ment between the port author-
ity and the Ministry of • Com-
munications.
