Groups Planning
Sectional Meetings

Sectional Group meetings of
all Hadassah members will be
held at 12:30 p.m. , Tuesday ,with
discussion centering on the Ha-
dassah Medical Organization
(HMO). Luncheonettes will be
served at all meetings.
The Bagley, Schaefer, Univer-
sity West and Wyoming Groups
will meet in the social hall of
Adas Shalom Synagogue. Its
program will include "Jewish
Cookery."
Central East and West, Russell
Woods East and West will hold
a surprise program at its meet-
ing, scheduled for the Bnai
Moshe Synagogue.
Mrs. Herman Stenbuck, of
Pontiac, will be guest speaker at
the meeting of Sherwood and
University East groups, to be
held at Temple Israel. A drama-
tic skit, "You Write the Ending,"
is planned also.
All section meetings will fea-
ture discussion on the announce-
ment at the recent Hadassah
convention of Dr. Kalman J.
Mann, HMO director in Israel,
of a revolutionary plan for corn-
munity health centers in Israel,
in which a family will be treated
as a unit.
An experiment will soon be
conducted at Bet Mazmil, near
Jerusalem, among 5,000 persons,
none of whom have been in the
Jewish state for over two years.
These persons were chosen be-
cause, according to Dr. Mann,
"they are physically settled, but
psychologically susceptible to
change."

At a recent dinner party, an-
nouncement was made by Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Parr, of Pasa-
dena Ave., of the engagement of
their daughter, Francene Rhoda,
to Walter Fish, son of Mrs. Jack
Fish, of Burlingame Ave. The
wedding date has been set for
May 31.

Hebrew U. Professor
To Address Midrasha,
U.S. Friends, Kvutzah

Dr. Naphtali H. Tur-Sinai
(Torcyzner) will be the guest
here on Tuesday and Wednesday
of the Detroit Chapter, Ameri-
can Friends of Hebrew Univer-
sity, Midrasha, of the United
Hebrew Schools, the Kvutzvah
Ivrith and Hebrew Teachers As-
sociation.
Dr. Tur-Sinai, professor of He-
brew literature at Hebrew Uni-
ver'sity in Jerusalem, is currently
in this country on a visit under
auspices of the university.
On Tuesday evening, he will
speak in English on "Riddles in
the Bible." On Wednesday eve-
ning, he will speak in Hebrew
on "The Problems of the Hebrew
Language in Israel." Both lec-
tures, to which the public is in-
vited, will be held in the Rose
Sittig Cohen Bldg.
The noted Hebrew and Bibli-
cal scholar has been at the uni-
versity since 1933. He is the
author of several books dealing
with the Bible and cognate sub-
jects.
Four students of the Midrasha
will on Tuesday evening be pre-
sented with certificates from
Hebrew University, citing them
for passing the university's He-
brew examinations.
The concluding program for
the 26th annual observance of
Education Month of the United
Hebrew Schools will be a broad-
cast at 1 p.m., Dec. 7, over sta-
tion WWJ. A cantata, written
and directed by Shirley Subar
Sklash, will be presented.

To Hold Reunion Saturday

Rabbi A. M. Hershberg, of Chi-
cago, Ill., was guest speaker at a
memorial meeting of the Yeshi-
vath Chachmey Lublin, held in
honor of the late Rabbi Meyer
Shapiro, founder of the Yeshi-
vah in .Europe: • Rabbi Isaac
Stollman also spoke.
Mrs. Minnie Rosenthal; widow
of Isaac Rosenthal. made -a con-
tribution of $500 to the school,
which she said was the bequest
of her late husband. A gift of
$250 was presented by _David
Edelman, vice president of the
Yeshivah.

Lucy Corbett, who will be the

ber meeting, has written a for-
ward, and the menu which she
will prepare on the Dec. 1 pro-
gram, is included, with detailed
instructions for its preparation.
The book has been illustrated
by Mrs. Manes Hecht, and will
contain 70 recipes. Mesdames
Morey Jacobs, Charles Solomon
and Adolph Baron were among

Tercentenary Group

Establishment of a Committee
of 300 to organize the celebra-
tion' in 1954 of the 300th anni-
versary of Jewish settlement in
America was announced today
by David Bernstein, executive
director of the American Jewish
Tercentenary Committee, 270
Park Ave., New York.
Prominent Jewish lead ers
from .41 states, the District of
Columbia and the Virgin
Islands, have accepted member-
ship on the committee on invita-
tion froth Ralph E. Samuel,
chairman, and Judge Simon H.
Rifkind, chairman of the mem-
bership committee.
Judge Rifkind declared that
his committee had sought to es-
tablish a membership which
would reflect all significant
viewpoints a m o n g American
Jews today. "The observalice in
1954," he said, "will provide an
opportunity for all American
Jews to express, in their own
way, the meaning to them of
this 300-year American heritage.
For this reason, our membership
is as brciad and as diversified
as the American Jewish com-
munity itself."
The Michigan members of the
committee include Isidore Sob-
eloff, Philip Slomovitz, Judge
Theodore Levin, Henry Wine-
man, Prof. William Haber • and
Mrs. Joseph M. Welt.

A report from Allen A. War-
sen,. director of the Adas Sha-
lom Religious School, states that
850 students, an' all-time high,
have enrolled in school courses.
Separate religious services for
junior and senior departments
have been inaugurated, with
students serving as readers,
preachers, sextons and cantors.
The school board consists of
Rabbi Jacob E. Segal, N. R. Ep-
stein, synagogue president; Mey-
er Littky and Dr. Martin Nai-
mark, chairman and co-chair-
man, Mrs. Jacob Levine, Harry
Spoon and Seymour Serling.



Beth Yehudah School board
will meet at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday,
'at Bnai Zion Synagogue, Hum-
phrey and Holmur, announces
