An American Jewish Press Feature

Hello, Boys and Girls:
Our young friends, Danny
and Judy, are just about the
most excited boy and girl in the
country today. They're moving
into a brand new home .. .
* * *
GETTING READY
Everybody had a job. Mother
washed and wrapped all the
china and glassware. Father
tied up the packages. Judy ran
errands. Danny stowed all the
books in boxes.
"Be extra careful there, son,"
daddy warned. Danny had
come to the shelf that held the
family Bible, the prayer books
and the Haggadahs. "You know
it is a sin to let a holy book
drop to the floor."
watching out for them,"
Danny said.
Mother got out a large carton.
She padded the sides and bot-
tom. "This is for our most pre-
cious possessions," she said..
"Bring me the candlesticks,
Judy, and the Hanukah Meno-
rah." These were wrapped in
tissue and packed. "Now our
silver Kiddush cups, the Hay-
dalah spice-box, the challah
tray. . ."

* * *

`ON THE

DOORPOSTS'
It was almost time to move,
and all the family was busy,
but. they took time for a visit
to Mr. Schwartz's bookstore.
"We are moving into a beau-
tiful new home," daddy told Mr.
Schwartz.
"Then you Will want a .beau-
tiful new - Mezuzah," said the
storekeeper, reaching into the
display case. He brought out a
tray of Mezuzahs of many sizes
and materials.
"I think," said mother, "this
one-" She selected a lovely sil-
ver case. The delicate carving
represented two pillars of the -
Temple. In the center was the
cylinder that contained the
watchword of Judaism, the
Shema.
Daddy and Danny and Judy
agreed. It' was just the right
one.

•

•

•

STAFF OF LIFE
Moving day finally came. The
van was pulled up in front of
the house, and the moving men.
were loading it with furniture.
"Come on, everyone," daddy
called. "Pile into the car. We
want . to get to the new house
first."
Next week, boys and girls,
we'll have the story of Judy
and Danny's Hanukas Habayit,
the Dedication of- their Home.
Your friend,
