Report Card Report:
Highest Yeshivah Total
Teachers of the Beth-
Yehudah Day School this week
issued the largest number of
report cards in its nine-year
history to pupils in the elemen-
tary and high school grades.
The cards cover work in the first
six weeks of the current, semes-
ter which began in September.
It was revealed at the same
time that facilities at the Beth
Yehudah Building and Young
Israel Center, with 100 students,
are filled to capactiy, with a
waiting list of 20. Beginner's
classes in the afternoon school
and the Beth Jacob School of
Girls number 70 students.
The total student enrollment
at the Beth Yehudah is nearing
600, apart from a new branch
on Wyoming and Santa Clara,
which is still accepting appli-
cants. Fifteen Yeshivah' gradu-
ates are studying advanced
courses in Bible and Talmud in
the Beth Hamidrash, while
taking secular courses at Wayne
University.
Local Doctors Work
On Operation Israel
Three prominent local physi-
cians, working on the assump-
tion that most doctors have
medical and surgical equipment
in their offices that they seldom
use, have devised a plan to put
these instru:.:-;nts to use in Is-
rael where ther is an acute
shortage.
Drs. M. C. Bachman, E. Roth-
man and A. W. Sanders, coop-
erating with Kupat Holim, Israel
medical service, have asked all
Detroit colleagues to join them
in taking a quick inventory of
their equipment and to put aside
items they can spare.
Only a week old, the drive
has thus far netted an electro-
cardiograph machine, hemo-
stats of every variety and vari-
ous needed articles. All doctors
are urged to contact any of the
doctors named above for contri-
butions. The drive will last for
four weeks.
