Roodlmmsm, Not Inter-Racial Problem,
Involved in Gang Fight at Center

leaders, who have, been in con-
tact with police authorities, this
week announced. ,hat it is the
conviction of the police as well
as the Jewisl- leaders that the
acts of hoodlumism near the
Davison Center were not' man-
ifestations of inter-racial prob-
lems.
"It was sheer hoodlumism," is
the conclusion reached after
a' thorough ,tudy of the situ-
ation.
Fast action by Police Depart-
ment officers last week pre-
vented what might have been
a gang fight in front of the new
Jewish. Center on Dexter and.
Davison.
Police arrested five youths, all
teen-agers, and held them on
charges of hoodlumism.

Officials say they believe
these youngsterS are involved
in the recent disturbances at
football games at C e n t r al
High School and other schools
throughout the city. They
said they just wandered from
section to section causing
trouble.

While officials at the Center
stated that there was no racial
element involved in the disturb-
ance, Inspector Albert Shapiro
said, "It seems strange to me
that these hoodlums are com-
ing from all over the city and
suburbs to .a spot in one pre-
cinct. Something bad is going
to happen if we don't break it

by the representative of Iraq
who stated that he reserves the

"without restriction."
The Egyptian delegate Abdel
Monem Mostafa said that "the
representative of Lebanon had
stated the situation very well."
He analyzed the activities of the
