Hostesses include the follow-

motion a whirl of activities and
ideas to make this a memorable
conclave. The convention will
meet Oct. 26 to 29.
Convention leaders estimate
that 3,000 delegates and guests
will attend this parley, from
communities as far as Alaska
and Puerto Rico.
Abba Eban, Israel's Ambassa-
dor to the United States, will
address the opening session at
the Masonic Temple.
Mrs. Samuel J. Rosensohn,
national Hadassah president,
will also address the assembly.
Other notable speakers will be
Helen Gahagan Douglas, former
Calif ornia Congresswoman,
writer Maurice Samuels, Martha
Sharp, of the Quaker Society,
and former member of the
American - Christian Palestine
Committee, who will speak at
the closing banquet Oct. 29; and
Dr. Kalman J. Mann,, director of
the Hadassah Medical Organiza-
tion in Israel.
On the evening of Oct. 27, a
dramatic pageant, with song and
dance will be presented in
"Shining City," written by Mil-
lard Lampell. Mrs. Milford Pre-
gerson will be seen in the lead-
ing role of the pageant, which
tells the story of Hadassah's
medical program. •
Others in the cast will include

the Music Study Club, Dan
Frohman and Regina Lax, solo-
ists, and the Harriet Berg dance
group.
A fashion show will be the
feature of the Oct. 28 program,
with creations being shown from
Hadassah's Institute of Fashion
and Design, made in Israel in-
stitutions under the program of
vocational and educational guid-
ance.
Mrs. Morse Saulson, Chapter
president, extends an invitation
to husbands and guests to at-
tend all the evening festivities.
Afternoon sessions will be de-
voted mostly to speakers, work-
shops and talks in the Sheraton

"Bagels and Yox" Show
Starts at Coss Oct. 1 9

"Bagels and Yox," the English-
Yiddish musical revue, comes to
Detroit for a seven day engage-
ment, commencing Sunday eve-
ning, Oct. 19.
The attraction will be pre-
sented by Al Beckman and John
Pransky at the Cass Theater.
The cast is virtually the same
that appeared here previously at
the Shubert. On the roster are
Barton Brothers, master of cere-
monies Lou Saxon, singer Marty
Drake, comic Larry Alpert, ven-
triloquist Rickie Layne with his
Yiddish-speaking dummy, Velvel,
dance stylist Kmt Jons with his
non-Jewish songstress, Jo Ann
Florio. The latter replaced Mary
Forrest.
Irving Carroll continues as
conductor for the musical score
by Sholom Secunda and Hy
Jacobson.

Women's Symphony Plans
Auditions for January
The Detroit Women's Symph-
ony Orchestra will mark its sixth
season by conducting a young
artists' audition open to young
women of Detroit and, the Met-
ropolitan area between the ages
of 18 and 35.
Auditions will be held Jan. 25
in the following classifications:
piano, voice, violin and violin-
cello. First prize will be $100
and appearance as soloist with
the orcheStra at its spring con-
cert May 1, at the Detroit Insti-
tute of Arts. Second prize will
be $50.
