Winter Plans
1For Immigrants
Livina in Tents

Map

JERUSALEM, (JTA) — Prepa-
rations to provide better ac-
commodations for immigrants
living in tents before the winter
arrives are now being made by
the Jewish Agency, it was re.-
.ported at a meeting of Israel
members of the Zionist Actions
Committee. Chief obstacle in
carrying out the plan is the
shortage of funds, it was em-
phasized.
Avraham Harzfeld, leader of
Mapai, called for the dissolution
of the immigrant camps in the
shortest possible time, regard-
less of cost. The meeting
cussed the question of the status
of the Jewish Agency in con-
nection with the government
bill now pending in Parliament.
Eight new 'agricultural settle-
ments will be established in
various parts of Israel by
the High Holidays, the Jewish
Agency settlement department
announced.
Seven of the new settleMents
will be small holders' coopera,
tives set up by immigrants while
the eighth will be established by
Histadrut workers from urban
areas. Four of the settlements
will be affiliated with the Miz-
rachi laborites, the General
Zionists and Havoed Hamm
(workers in the General Zion-
ist movement) .

America's Bond Leaders
See Israel's Development

TEL AVIV, (JTA) — Members
of the American bond drive del-
egation currently visiting Israel
are tremendously impressed by
progress made in Israel's eco-
nomic devel o p in e n t recently,
Julian Venezky, and Joel Gross,
leaders of the Israel bond drive
in the United States, told a press
conference.
They cited such developments
as the gigantic Kishon and
Nathanya projects :as evidence
that funds raised through bond
sales have been spent on "effici-
ent and constructive" projects.
The bond campaign leaders, who
expect to be back in the United
States in time to participate in .
the bond organization national
meeting in Atlantic City, ex-
pressed hope that bond sales will
increase this fall and that the
entire $500,000,000 issue will be
sold out within three years of
its launching.
