For Book Fair

In connection with _its first
Annual Book Fair, to be held
Nov. 29 and 30, the Jewish Com-
munity Center has announced a
city-wide poster contest for
children registered in Jewish.

Pupils of all Jewish schools
are invited to submit entries to
the %contest, which closes Oct.
31, 1952. The maximum poster
size is 14 by 22.
Posters may be brought to the
Dexter-Davison branch of the
Center any week day. An entry
blank must be attached to the
back of the poster.
Prizes, provided by the Delia
Imerman Meyers Memorial
Fund, will be awarded in each
of the following categories:
Elementary,. .Intermediate and
High School. They will consist
of a first prize of $25.00, a second.
prize of $15.00 and five third
prizes of appropriate Jewish
books. •
The Center is cooperating with
local Jewish libraries and Jew-
ish schools in spcinsoring the
Book Fair, under the chairman-
ship of Mrs. Harry L. Jackson,
as one way of celebrating na-
tional Jewish Book Month. The
main purpose of the Fair is to
acquaint people with Jewish
books An' all areas and on all
levels, and to stimulate people
to read Jewish books. Theines
of the posters should be con-
sistent 'with aims of the Fair.

to' become non-resident fellows
of the 'Israel Medical Associa-
tion. (IMA).
This step is being urged by
Dr. Weston in accordance with
plans formulated at the Jeru-
salem parley, which - set up' a
committee to form Fellowship
groups in the IMA. This system
is expected to strengthen the
existing bonds between physi-
cians in the Diaspora and those
in Israel.
Plans were also made for con-
vening the. World Congress in
another two years.
Delegates, including Dr. Wes-
ton and Dr. Noah E'. Aronstam,
of Detroit, were greeted by Prime
MiniSter David Ben-Gurion and
by leaders of the Israel Medical
Association.
It was pointed out that Israel
physiciaris were not interested
so much in :material aid, but
rather in receiving cooperation
in solving existing medical dif-
ficulties in the new state.
Physicians in the Diaspora
Were asked to come 'to Israel to
conduct courses and seminars
and to arrange residencies and
fellowships for Israeli physicians
in America:
The average age of the present
Israel doctor was reported to be
50 years, and it is expected that
in 10 years there will be a serious
shortage of physicians, unless

Migrate to the new state.
Following the parley, doctors
from all over the world were
taken on a tour of the country
that enabled them to see pro-
jects and planning which is be-
ing carried out • in Israel.
