Headed by Arthur Greenleigh, executive director of United Service for New Americans, chairman of the Committee, leaders of Protestant, Catholic and Lutheran agencies gave a joint statement to the President declaring that the curtailment of immigration to the United States was having a serious effect on the immigration policies of other nations and was harming America's foreign rela- tions. The committee spent a half-hour conferring with the President and pledged their continued joint efforts to find a solu- tion to the problem.
