British Fascists Rally at Salisbury
LONDON, (JTA)—British fas-
cists, planning a comeback, are
using the town of Salisbury as
a springboard in their drive.
More than 1,500 persons at-
tended a fascist rally there on
Monday. The main speaks v: was
Victor Burgess who raised his, 1
arm in the Nazi salute and hurl- I
ed insults at Jewish merchants
in the area.

Israelis Cultivate
300 Dunams o Land
Claimed by Jordan
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—A 300-
dunam tract of land east of the
Jordan, ownership of which had
been disputed by Jordan, has
been brought under cultivation.
Two years ago, Arab Legion
units occupying the area disput-
ed Israeli attempts to plow the
land and a clash followed. The
Jordan-Israel Mixed . Armistice
Commission, however, ruled that
the land, originally the property
of the Palestine Elettric Corpor-
ation, was Israeli territory.
No attempt .Was made this
time by Legionnaires to inter-
fere with the plowing which ap-
parently took them by surprise.
The nine tractors used in the
operation were moved into the
area across the dfy bed of the
Jordan River. Tlie area is ex-
pected to yield winter crops:
Aid Tracing of Jewish
Orphans in Germanv
LONDON, (JTA)—The Foreign
Ministry at Bonn will take ur-
gent action to trace Jewish chil-_
dren placed in non-Jewish
homes in Germany during the
Nazi regime, the German lega-
tion here has promised the
world Agudas Israel executive.
The Agudah had appealed to
the German Minister to Britain,
Dr. Schlange - Schoningen, to
help it locate such children in
the territory of West Germany.
The Agudah said it was known
that many Jewish parents, faced '
with transportation to Nazi con-
centration camps, had, entrusted
their children to non-Jewish
n
families or non-Jewish welfare
institutions. The Agudah asked
that full details on these chil-
dren be supplied so that Jewish
communal organizations could
give the matter their active con-
sideration.
Probe Auerbach Trial
MUNICH, (JTA)—A Bavarian
Parliamentary commission will
open a formal investigation of
the background of the trial of
the late Philip Auerbach, former
head of the State Restitution
Office, on Sept. 30, with a public
hearing. The committee has al-
ready begun informal sessions
here.
Former Justice Minister Jo-
seph Mueller, who removed Au-
erbach from office and ordered
his trial, said that if he had
once again to consider reorgani-
zation of the restitution office
and proceedings against Auer-
bach, he would do so "without
regrets."
At Dusseldorf, Chief Rabbi Dr.
Holzer reported that a local
committee had raised 2,000
marks to aid the Auerbach fam-
ily which was left penniless.
