Scrip Merger to Cut
Cost of Israel Packages
Four major Scrip companies
which sell self-selection gift
certificates to Israel will merge,
announced Irving Jaffe, execu-
tive vice-president of Scrip to
Israel, Inc. The other companies
which will join with Scrip to
Israel are Service for Israel,
AMEIC and Soya Israel Stores.
Jaffe stated that the four
companies signed an agreement
with Israel on Sept. 1, which
will become effective in about
three months and which will
unite the four companies into a
single distribution company to
service recipients of self-selec-
tion certificates issued by the
Bank Leumi (National Bank of
Israel) and sold by the merged
sales corporation in the United
States. The four companies are
now forming the single corpora-
tion, and will begin operations
no later than Jan. 1.
The purpose of the merger is
to reduce administrative, sales,
shipping and delivery costs to
the barest minimum. The plan
will eliminate the duplicating
activities of the companies and
will streamline service both to
the American donor and his
Israeli beneficiaries.
Jaffe stated that all com-
panies will maintain separate
sales and distribution activities
until the new company begins
operations and that all certifi-
cates will be honored and ex-
changed without difficulty in the
present facilities of the four
companies. Certificates of all
companies will be honored like-
wise after the merger.
