said he was planning to get a
bird nut decided, after hearing
about the drive, to give his
money to the big campaign.
Another pupil — 9 1

that he earned his money

87 cents and hopes to give
$1.25. Another boy gave up the
idea of getting a dog to give
the money to the drive.

Here are a few other opinions
and explanations:
Eleanor Stein, 9. daughter of
Mollie Stein, 2468 Gladstone:
"The money I earned to give
to the Allied Jewish Campaign
was from my allowance. I only
get 25 cents a week and I have
to take my Girl Scout dues out
of it. That is why I can't give it
all to the campaign. If I could
give it all. I would. I now have
.50 cents."
Michelle Kuvet, 8. daughter of
Mr and Mrs. Emanuel Kuvet,
2210 Pingree:
"We give to the Allied Jewish
Campaign because we feet that
it is our duty to provide for all
those who. for some reason. can-
not provide for themselves."
Earl Ishbia, 9, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Ishbia. 2682 Blaine:
'1 took 25 cents a week out of
my allowance for four weeks un-
til 1 filled my SI pledge.
Michael Corman, 9, son of Mr
and Mrs. Samuel Corman, 1550
Delaware:
"I earned my money by doing
errands for my mother. I was
saving my money to buy a dog...
But when I heard that the cam-
paign was on to help the home-
less Jews and to help Israel, I
was glad to do without a dog."

of which Meyer Mathis, one of
the teachers, is the director.

schools, of which Israel Elpern
is principal, the children set a
goal of 150 per cent—at least
half as much more as they gave
last year to the Allied Jewish
Campaign. Some of the children
wrote essays expressing their
views on the drive and telling
how they secured the money to
give to the drive.
