Ladies Auxiliary of the Jew-
ish National Fund will celebrate
Mother's- Day and -the fourth
anniversary of Israel's inde-
pendence with a program at
12:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Young
Israel Center.
A cantata, written by Mrs. Irv-
ing Arlin, program chairman,
will be the high-

tions chairman. and a vote
taken .
Hostesses for a dessert lunch-
eon to precede the program are

Dr. Jack Lawson was elected
president of the Detroit Alumni
Chapter of Alpha Omega dental
fraternity at its recent election
meeting at Adas Shalom Syna-
gogue.
_ Serving in office with Dr.
Lawson are Drs. Allan Kline,
vice-president; Gerald Aptekar
and Bernard Schmidt, secre-
taries: Frank Reisman, treas-
urer; Edward Schneider, sgt. at
arms; Gerald Freedman, editor;
and Harold Maxmen, Albert
Shulman and Azriel Weller,
trustees. Fifteen members were
appointed to the Council.
Installation of officers will
take place Saturday, at the
Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel, in con-
junction w i t h undergraduate
Chi Chapter at the University
of Michigan and Alpha Nu
Chapter at University of Detroit.
Dr. Harry Jolley, of Toronto. na-
tional president. Dr. Louis Galin,
of Detroit. national treasurer,
and several past national offi-
cers will be among the guests.
Music and entertainment will
follow ceremonies. Mickey Woolf
and his orchestra will play. Dr.
Edward Schneider is in charge
of arrangements.

For Aged Auxiliary

Mrs. Morris Direnfeld, presi-
dent of Harry B. Keidan Chap-
ter. Bnai Brith, announces a
board meeting Monday, at the
home of Mrs. Albert Cutler,
18429 Indiana. Mrs. Theodore
Weinberg will be co-hostess.
Officers for the coming sea-
son were elected at a recent
meeting. To take office in the
fall are Mesdames Andrew Hart-
man, president; Marvin Wein-
stein, Max Yorke and Lawrence
Weiss, vice-presidents; Charles
Kalish, treasurer; J. Jerome
Bader, Albert Cutler. Max Fogel-
man and Morton Sobel, secre-
taries; Jerome Fidler, guide;
Theodore Weinberg, sentinel;
Morris Direnfeld, counselor; and
Sidney Wexler, Alfred Lakin and
Sidney Kalt, trustees.

old resident at the Jewish Home
for Aged, will entertain at the
installation bruncheon of the
Home's Women's Auxiliary at
12:30 p.m., Monday, at Bel-Aire
Terrace. Mr. Schuchman will be
accompanied at the piano by
Mrs. Herman Bregman, an aux-
iliary member who helped re-
store the fingers of the violin
virtuoso which were plagued
with numbness for 15 years.

Protest McCarran-Walter Measures

ed by 22 religious and national-
ity groups, including the Jewish
Community Council, addressed
to Senators Ferguson and Moody,
states that the McCarran and
Walter bills are "contrary to the
time-honored American concept
of fair play and are unfair to
many nationality and minority
groups" and suggests "thorough
reconsideration" of the contents
of the omnibus bills "particular-
ly in our common struggle
against totalitarian commu-
nism."
