Drop Charges Against
Journalists in. Haifa
TEL AVIV, (JTA) — Charges
were dropped this week-end
against the three Haifa corre-
spondents of Tel Aviv newspap-
ers who refused to disclose to
the police the source of confi-
dential information they ob-
.
tamed. The correspondents dis-
closed a confidential exchange
of letters between a Minister
and the director of the govern-
ment office in Haifa.
Seymour Lipkin, of Detroit,
still in his early twenties, is
widely recognized as one of
America's finest concert plan-
fists. Olin Downes of the New
York Times called his recent
Town Hall performance "dis-
tinguished by interpretive in-
sight and sterling musicianship."
Winner of the 1948 nationwide
Rachmaninoff Fund Contest,
Seymour began his career at the
age of four in his native Detroit.
When he was 11, he entered
Curtis Institute in Philadelphia
to study under Rudolf Serkin.
He also studied conducting un-
der Koussevitsky and has con-
ducted the Celveland Symphony
and the Curtis Institute Orches-
tras. Sy considers the greatest
musical thrill of his life would
be if he could conduct Beetho-
ven's "Emperor Concerto" with
Serkin as soloist.
Seymour spends most of his
time these days on the road"
giving recitals. Whenever pos-
sible, he returns to his native
Detroit to visit with his parents.
Dr. and Mrs. Ezra Lipkin. Sey-
mour says his mother is a whiz
at making Linzer Tortes and
here is the recipe:.
Beat 6 eggs until thick; grad-
ually beat in one cup of sugar.
Stir in S e1.y ground nut meats._
about 3 cups—almonds are best
—and add one teaspoon vanilla.
Pour into three wax paper lined
8-inch square or round pans.
Bake in a 375 degree oven for 20
minutes. Remove from pan and
allow to cool. Spread with one
cup of raspberry or currant jelly
betweitn layers, then frost with
two squares of chocolate and
t hr e e tablespoons of butter
melted over hot water. Add four
ta.blesp000ns of cream to one
and one-half cups powdered
sugar. Beat until smooth, adding
more powdered sugar if neces-
sary for spreading consistency.
Frost top and sides of the torte.
Serves 12. This may be served
with sweetened whipped cream
flavored with rum.

German Court Dismisses
Slander Charge on Jews
Applauding the turn-out and
results of the opening Allied'
Jewish Campaign dinner, which ,
raised half of the total of 1951
—are (from left) Mrs. JOSEPH
H. EHRLICH, senior advisor for
the Women's Division, and IRV-
ING W. BLUMBERG, associate
campaign chairman.
DUSSELDORF, (JTA)—A slan-
der complaint filed with the
Brunswick court by the Central
Council of Jews in Germany
against Herr Bothmer, a leader
of the Socialist Reich Party, who
called on audiences to "fight
world Jewry which is responsible
for all the unrest in the world,"
was dismissed.
The court held that a public
appeal to fight world Jewry does
not in itself constitute an in-
sult; world Jewry is not an
"offendable" community; Both-
mer's speech had not been
directed against the complain-
ant, the Central Council; Both-
mer. did not say he intended to
Jewry with the
fight world
means of the Third Reich and,
finally, Bothmer had not de-
manded the use of force and
violence in the fight against the
Jews.
WASHINGTON, (JTA) --Israel

NEW YORK. (JTA) --The work

of their new headquarters at the
Atran Center for Jewish Culture.
The headquarters will be de-
voted to combating discrimina-
tion, strengthening democratic
institutions and furthering Jew-

United States. The building was
a gift from Frank Z. Atran, tex-
