1 The PLUS Campaign and We
By BETTY OMMERMAN
A number of Allied Jewish Campaign workers and contribu-
tors have expressed their opinions on the current drive and
have loined in urging strong support for the 1952 PLUS effort.
Here are some of the views as gathered by this reporter:
•
•
• •
Bernard Linderman, 17505
Ohio, profes sional division
worker:
"I have been a Zionist for 34
or 35 years and
therefore favor
agencies bene-
fitting Israel. I
am active in the
campaign since
there is a need
to help the peo-
ple locally as
well as in Israel_
Workin P.; and
giving to the
UJA strengthens Israel econom-
ically and fortifies the prestige
of the Jewish community locally.
We are happy for those who are
liberal contributors and sorry for
the minority that has not yet
learned the 'art of giving'."

•
•
•
Nathan Bronstein, 980 Whit-
more, owner Of Panama Car-
bon Co, arts and crafts divi-
sion worker:
"The UJA benefits a lot of
people who apparently need
help. Any of the various agencies
are worthwhile and need our
funds. As far as favorite agen-
cies are concerned. I have none.
I do not feel I am in a position
to decide which is more worth-
while."
Stuart Chosid, 17591 Monica,
worker in mechanical division:
am active to help make it
a continued suc-
cess and to help
the ca mpaign
reach its goal. I
feel that char-
ity begins at
home and some
of the money
should go
should g
toward e d u ca-
tion of young aaa
Jewish boys in Judaism."
•
Nathan Cooper, 18616 Wood-
ingha.in Drive, worker for
pledges in pharmaceutical di-
vision:
"I am active because I know
the need for the work that has
to be done and I try to do it.
As far as favorite agencies go,
I am not partial to any."
•
Max Charness, 3280 Mon-
terey, worker in food division:
"I approve of the good work
the campaign
does keeping up
the Old Folks
home and the
other aids for
people. Detroit
is on top in the
campaign and I
wish to keep
Detroit on top.
People should
help now especi-

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. (JTA)
The decision of the United Na-
tions International Children's
Emergency Fund to grant Israel
$300,000 to acquire equipment to
pasteurize and refrigerate milk
and to acquire equipment to
make milk bottles resulted from
a request for such assistance by
the Israel government and sub-
sequent studies and negotiations
by the government, UNICEF and
the UN Food and Agriculture Or-
ganization.
The funds would be used to
equip dairies operated by the
Tnuva Cooperative (non-govern-
mental) in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem
and Haifa with sufficient addi-
tional equipment to bottle all
milk and to provide bottle-mak-
9
ing equipment to existing glass
works so that they can manu-
facture the necessary bottles.
Since 60 percent of the child
population of Israel is concen-
trated in these three cities the
Tnuva. dairies will be able to
reach most a the children in
Israel with safe milk once the
equipment is installed and put
into operation.
