The -Spring Fling" will be the
big social event of this semester
at Mumford. The dance will take

place at Piemontese Club, Chey-
enne at Puritan. Dress is semi-
formal and a corsage included
in the $1.50 price of the ticket.
Mumfordites are saving May 16,
for the occasion. Tickets can be
obtained from any student
council member. One person in
each couple must attend Mum-
ford.
Miss Dostal, sponsor of the
French Club, is busily preparing
her Broadway actors for their
French play which they will
present to tne French 3Ciub on
May 7 at the Home of Joan
Raisin. In the cast are Lois

Mumford's contestants to the
district finals of the University
of Michigan Forensic Associa-
tion contest last week made a
fine showing. Shelda Sklar
placed first in the dramatic sec-
tion with her piece "Sixteen" by

Michigan Hillel
Nears Completion

The new Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation at Ann Arbor is
nearing completion while Jew-
ish student community activi-
ties are being carried on in the
$400,000 structure. Dedication
ceremonies are scheduled for the
fall.
Women's District Grand Lodge
No. 6 of the Bnai Brith is en-
gaged in providing the furnish-
ings for the building with Mrs.
Frances Solovich in charge.
Michigan Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation, Inc., is continuing
its fund raising campaign to de-
fray the cola of the building
under the leadership of its presi-
dent, Osias Zwerdling of Ann
Arbor.
During Passover hundreds of
kosher meals were served to
Jewish students. The facilities
of the still unfinished building
were made availably, cooks were
obtained from Detroit. and strict
dietary supervision was main-
tained. The serving of the meals
was under the direction of Wil-
liam Altman, a _student from
Detroit.
Friday evening and Sabbath
morning services are held in the
building at 1429 Hill St .
A goal of $6,000. for the United
Jewish Appeal has been set for
the campus. and the student
campaign under the auspices of
Hillel is conducted by a commit-
tee of students which includes
Fred Keiden, Sue Popkin and
William Altman.

Spelling Bee finals to be held
May 9, in the Rackham Memorial
building, Farnsworth and Wood-

Eugene Bodzin, an eighth
grade student at the Yeshivath

schools in Hamtramck. Highland

the spelling bee will be 10-year-

in the final bee.

Reunion Saturday. Among those

Hiking Unit Plans May 18
Trip- to Irish Hills Section
An all Jewish hiking unit,
which meets at the Avalon
parking lot each Sunday, will
hold an all-day outing on May
18, to the Irish Hills. All young
people over 21 are invited to
attend. Activities include hiking
through the hills, a picnic lunch
and dinner at Bauer Mansion
